The Old Folks Home

Good morning, OF - hot and humid today - 88% humidity right now.
We live way to far out for their delivery trucks.. I am not a huge fan of Soreesto but it did work.. I used Advantage for years being safe on pups.. Fleas are not dying from it now?

Frontline does not seem to work here either ?
Buying another product they say I can use daily we will see. ?
Penny, had a MAJOR flea outbreak here several years ago. Dosed everything with Bravecto. It's a bit pricey but lasts 3 months and does a great job. You may have to go through a veterinarian to get it. Controls both ticks and fleas.

I'll have to change my SOP for dealing with rats. I've never heard of them doing that.
About a month ago I found a dozen in the metal post of an "umbrella" drying rack. It had been laying on the dump cart for about a year. I needed the cart. No idea how the rat expected to retrieve the Ramik. Maybe it saw a hole and used it, not realizing the hole was really long and sloping down.

Some of those metal roofs come with a very long - up to lifetime warranty. If you know who installed it, you might want to check with them.
Given Micro's prior descriptions of the, um, "quality" of work done by the Amish guy who built the house I doubt the roofing manufacturer would warranty this.

micro, sorry about your roof. Some of those metal roofs come with a very long - up to lifetime warranty. If you know who installed it, you might want to check with them. It may be covered under your warranty. Homeowner's insurance might be another option, depending on the deductible, and how much water damage was done when it leaked.

It could be that it's been leaking for awhile, and you only discovered it, because it rained so heavy. Just make sure to inspect it well.
The Amish man who built the house put the roof in. Grumble grumble. This guy could build beautiful cabinets but his craftmanship when it comes to building houses hurls. We have found things like windows put in crooked, walls not secured to the frame and a cantilevered porch roof that should never have been cantilevered and not only pushed the wall in but caused the roof to fail and look like a roller coaster.

We have lived here for 12 years and still dealing with the construction errors he made. Oh he did some things right but for every right thing there are 2 things wrong. The funny thing is that we were in his father's house and it was beautiful. So if Amish sons are supposed to learn such things from their fathers, this guy was standing behind the door when the lessons came out.

Our ceilings are all metal also so yeah, the leak may have been an old one but it broke through at a new site, namely over our sofa...double grumble grumble grumble. Thankfully there was a throw over it because of the animals and the sofa is leather so only a wet throw to deal with and a bit of clean up and oil on the leather.

We decided that we wanted to downsize when we looked for property here. Our home in IL was a big ranch in the country. What drew us to this property was the timber and the smaller house attached to the HUGE shop. But we really expected the quality of the construction to be a lot better than it is.

Good morning all. Rain finally stopped. Fog and cool temps this morning here. Still a chance of thunderstorms but we have gotten 7 inches of rain, 18 inches in three weeks. My poor garden is miserably waterlogged but there is nothing to do about it except count our losses and plan for next year.

Thanks @Alaskan for the condolences. Hopefully it won't be a problem any longer if we can get the new screws and peak cap put in.

Yep, right on the spot, Bruce.

Our poor duck. Dh had gotten a pair of Bose outdoor speakers. They sound fine, and are usually used during the day. Every so often, Dh (sometimes with the kids) will go out by the pool late at night, and listen to music. We're talking anywhere from 11:30 pm, to 3:30 am. It's not real often, so no big deal. Quacker Sparkles never stood a chance of being a "normal" duck. Plenty of times, I'll see her up, and about, eating, and such through the night. She takes lots of cat, er "duck naps" both during the day, and night.

Yesterday, Dh brought home a pair of ZLX-15BT speakers, and stands. They connect with Bluetooth, so no wires. At midnight, I hear Sweet Home Alabama playing, and see Dh, grandkids, and Quacker Sparkles all swimming in the pool. A bit later, they're all out of the pool, dancing. Yes, even the dang duck is bobbing her head to the music, right there with Dh, and the kids. I mentioned her being let out of her duck house. "She looked like she wanted to party with us", was the reply. They're a bad influence on my duck. :th

I go out a little bit ago, classical music is playing, the duck is swimming gracefully, and my pool boy (Dh) is brushing down the pool. Sheesh!

Can't be any worse than around her, my dear. Baby Jay is in and out of the house all day. Spent most of the day out in the storm that came through dropping just under 2.5 inches of rain. Spent the night in the house and was right back outside after his bit of scrambled eggs. The took a birdie bath on top of the tarp where the water had pooled on top of K.E.'s pen while I was feeding. Meanwhile Turtle Dove was caught napping on Gator's back this morning. Gator was laying on the floor behind my chair as I read email, and there she was.. snoozing away. Just call us the crazy old bird ladies, I don't mind.
Baby Jay flew in while Susan the Physical Therapist was here and once again landed on her shoulder. She thinks it's just fantastic.
Here's Gator and Turtle Dove taking a nap together yesterday. You can find her where ever he is. And where ever I am, they follow.

Btw,,, My two 18 week old Black hens have already started laying the prettiest dark brown eggs.. I'm tickled. The Cinnamon Queen hasn't yet, but is supposed to be an early layer, and of course I have a few more weeks to wait on the Calico Princess gals. They are all in with Bandit the beautiful liver colored EE.

96% here. It'll go down as the temp goes up. Gonna go sweat in the garden for awhile. At least there's a breeze.

If sweating is supposed to clean out your pores, I'm going to have immaculate pores! :gig
