The Old Folks Home

Morning old folks! Stay safe, stay cool! We have a heat advisory through Thursday here. I need to pick tomatoes and green beans for the freezer and should process a few squash not to mention pick up more that I tossed out of the garden and into the yard last week.

I have no idea what I am going to do with all of them. DH and I will be eating a lot of squash this winter.
We are cooler this week with no temps over 100F

Yeah Ron, I think we are getting the heat now that you all have been dealing with out west. Stay safe from the fires. At least we don't have those here....yet.
Along with the cooler weather, the smoke is moving East. Air Quality is good today.

We do go back over 100 next week which will likely bring the smoke back this way

I can’t help it..slowly gaining, or quickly, I guess, first three were 30, 29, then 33 grams, this one, fourth day in a row, first eggs ever, 38 grams..! I guess I really hadn’t thought about them starting to lay, I guess I expected a start stop in fits, not this..”ok, let’s get down to business!”..business..! I’m so proud of my baby! Now those 14 other freeloaders should get the message! Edit..found a cool chart..

I'm glad you're getting a reprieve from the heat and smoke. Hopefully it won't come back as intense as it was before. We get plenty of the high temperatures here in Texas also but at least we don't have to deal with that wretched smoke. I feel for you guys.

Grew up in Houston, in Salt Lake now..we have our own fires, but also get the western smoke..it’s a total drag..! Nice temps after our very, very much needed rains..

We aren't that hot thankfully, just the low 90s but they say the heat indexes will be above 100 most of the week.

My fan quit in the coop so I have to take another one out there for them. It isn't as big so I get this mental image of them fighting for the best position in front of it.
It is nice to have temps below 90 in August!

The current fires will be burning for quite some time still. Hopefully they will be contained and not burn more buildings. The smoke is more toxic when houses and cars burn.

I remember doing that with my siblings as a little boy. Then I'd just give up and go out to the creek bank. It had plenty of shade trees.
