The Old Folks Home

The reason I love traditional chinese medicine and ayurvedic medicine is because they are 'whole person' medicines. They also take into consideration a person's lifestyle including what a person stuffs in his pie hole. 80% of all dis-eases begin in the gut. Any doctor that refuses to even look at a person's lifestyle and eating habits, to me is trash. One exception are emergency doctors. My neurologist at Sacred Heart when I had the stroke said my cholesterol was upside down, then ask me what I tended to eat. He let me know fish was a good thing to have several times weekly. Also a mediterranean diet, if I chose not to use the Lipitor he proscribed.
Food is medicine, and we need to start go back to thinking of it that way.

How many people put a fuel additive in their car (or other internal combustion) engine? Or spend extra for a better grade of oil?

Tell them, nah, I just dump a couple gallons of milk in my gas tank, and it runs fine. See what kind of reaction you get.

I just finished the book, "Animal, Vegetable, Junk." Very interesting read about our food supply. Another really good one about food is "In Defense of Food."

When I was on my way to OR from FL to take a job with BLM (no, not the BLM movement, but the federal agency) I spent some time with my older brother. He is a black belt in Tai Ji and also a practitioner of TCM. The first thing he did was treat me for a panic attack I had when I got to Limon. The sight was terrifying to me. All that rock and dead foliage after being in a lush tropical paradise for 10 years. Over the course of 3 weeks I noticed he had two containers of water in the refrigerator, one marked 'Love' and one marked 'Peace'. I thought they were just reminders to him about attitudes he needed to keep. But I recently discovered that people in India draw water from their taps into a copper container, and set a flower in top. The theory is, due to the high pressure the water has been imploded making it poisonous. Their belief has always been that water reacts to different people differently and it is now backed by scientists. What happens when the water is being set aside overnight is it decompresses and is able to release energy. OK, so I thought I would try that too, what's the harm? Within two days of drinking decompressed water that I had shown some love to, the water makes better tasting coffee, tea, and I love drinking it. I always had an aversion to drinking water, unless it came from a mountain stream. I thought it was just a difference in how it tasted, but maybe not.

We still use them when they are out on walks with us on lead. Sure stops pulling and lunging fast.
They make leashes that go around the muzzle. Dog pulls and ends up turning back to the person holding the lead :D Probably doesn't work on pugs and other dogs that have "pancake face". No pain to the dog other than not being able to go where they want.

I think that is what we used on our mastiff. Highly needed, great results.

I hate a dog that pulls. :p That mastiff was a great dog... but stupid long puppy-hood. I hate puppies.

:lau

Clearly.... I am over opinionated.

Ida's remnants and a stalled front are at work in our area. Roads are closed due to rising creeks. Yesterday and this morning we were at the farmers market where we have a stand. Most valuable items came home and everything else either went on top of tables or higher. The last 2 floods two years ago brought water up to the table tops, warping our tables. I placed sand bags outside the door. I was told sand bags won't help this time... But they were there so why not use them. Cleaning up after a flood is no fun job! There is a creek on either side of the market and they are predicting the Conestoga Creek will get us. Now we stay home, charge our phones, get flash lights ready....
