The Old Folks Home

Thanks. I have a Martingale collar that works well, so far. When I walk her in the morning, I am working on having her beside me, not pulling, and she's getting the idea.

When we all go -- DH has the leash when we go after he gets home -- he lets her run ahead. I know she's getting conflicting messages.:hmm

I'm hoping that she learns to walk "easy" with mom. "Easy" is my word for not pulling, walking with slack in the leash. We can stop for sniffs -- it's her chance to do that, and the walk is for her enrichment, exercise, and potty opportunities.

Besides, I'm not going to sniff the stuff on the ground. That's her job.
You and hubby need to be on the same page. Like you said, she's getting conflicting messages and that will make for one crazy dog. He's allowing her to be the leader of the pack, she see's you as submissive to him. She's not old enough or established enough to be a leader.

Thank you. I will have another talk with him about leash training.

Dogs are smart enough to differentiate between mom and dad... shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as you are always consistent.

What the farmers market looks like at 7:30 today and they expect the creek to crest midday tomorrow. You can see a corner of our building. You are looking at the parking lot and road. The creek isn't in the picture

7:44 pm here and there's incoming thunderstorms. The neighbor's dogs were at the door scratching to be let in. Please let us in! They normally come over for breakfast each morning, but the last 3 days it's been morning and afternoon and any time a storm is coming. I wish to heaven people would take care of their dogs!
I would call animal control so they could have a chance at a decent life, but there's no animal control in our county. It's left up to the police department.

I know how you feel. The house I bought in Seminole, AL had 18" of river water in it just 8 short months after I purchased it. FEMA insurance provided the funds to renovate, but man oh man did the premiums go up after that. I had already done all the paperwork to get gov'ment funds to have the house elevated, easy job as it was a wood frame house sitting on pilings. 3 years later I was still on the list, with no end in sight. So, I sold it. Paperwork was still valid for the next owner, and she was eager to buy. Last year they had water up to the window sills. Tore it down and put a concrete slab there where they parked a big travel trailer. Mr Bray told me it was kinda odd since they didn't have a vehicle to tow it with, then he chuckled. During IDA I was tracking the river gauge at Styx river, and yup, it hit flood stage again. I wonder how they fared this time.
