The Old Folks Home

I know how you feel.
We can't get insurance because we sell vintage items- mostly vinyl records and electronics and some toys. We buy low so we aren't out so much money, but they are worth good money. It's the clean up that is horrific. The market is old barns with no air circulation and till they open the doors for clean up it's slimy and stinks. No drainage. All floors must be mopped and water carried out the back door. Our floors are wood with air space underneath that can take months to dry-till the heat comes on. How do I know? We had floods twice 2 years ago up to the bottom of our tables and the tables warped. Everything under the tables got ruined. Muddy filthy stirred up creek water is way different then plain water. Why do we stay? Both of us having health problems doesn't give a lot of opportunities. It's a one day a week thing and we can leave everything there. Unless of course it floods!!

Well, I hope you get lucky this time and it's not so bad.

I trust your home is elevated.
That is the farmers market in Ephrata, Lancaster county. We live in York on the highest elevation. We've had over 6" rain here in York in the last 24 hours. Ephrata had less rain but that creek rises fast. Here at home my chickens are soaked to the skin in a covered outside run. We had relentless flash flooding. There house is dry but they refuse to go inside except to sleep and lay eggs.

Crazy chickens. Got a mind of their own. If only they'd use it. 🙂
