The Old Folks Home

I know Spring is almost here, we have cabin fever here so bad and we didn't have the snow and ice like you all did. I want to give the runs and coop a good spring clean, the greenhouse and the gardens. I want to plant and start all my flowers and veggies. The hens miss their fresh lettuces I am tired of going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. Oh I am being like a fussy baby. I will stop now, sorry.

SCG when did you dye your hair?

. My brother has the day off and was going to take me to lunch at the new Chick Fil A. Oh horse hockey!! He usually comes on Sundays and Chick fil a is always closed on Sundays. This would have been my big break.

Now I'm just sitting waiting to get into my snow gear to battle the enemy. I knew I should have gotten two cartons of ice cream instead of one - at Wallys yesterday. One is already half gone. Plus my ice cream cones used to be 24 in a box, yesterday I saw it was down sized to 18. ***. Odd that they just focus on me isn't it?

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING.
* HAZARD TYPES... HEAVY SNOW.
* ACCUMULATIONS... SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 4 TO 8 INCHES POSSIBLE IN A RELATIVELY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

Bring it.

And cute! Were you doing this?

Now wait. That's red hair? I thought it was a bandana. 50lbs lost really. I almost said in my last post..you skinny little thing. You've never had 50 lbs to lose. Nope.

I usually cut the weatherpersons a lot of slack. However, when they predict 40s for the day, one wouldn't expect to need ice skates to reach the coops at noon.
It's a hardpack of snow covered a by a layer of ice and literally, skates would be safer than boots.

It's also comical watching the chickens flapping their wings trying to stay upright as they walk gingerly across the ice. Maybe I need wings.

That's how it was for me just last week. With this heat wave, the snow is gone, and the water that was frozen is gone. I have let my chickens out to free range for the first time this week since winter got bad. They are loving it..and yes, those boots are hard to walk on ice..~!
