The Old Folks Home

My husband says that if they are too heavy to lift they are good speakers!

Morning everyone.

I can't lift our speakers either! DH is always saying that bigger is better when it comes to speakers.

Bitter cold here. It only got to 13 degrees yesterday and was -1 when I got up to let the dogs out this morning. I think they are calling for 26 degrees here today and then 32 tomorrow. We haven't been off the property since the first of January. We have 3 miles plus of gravel road between us and the black top. No maintenance yet since the last snow. Only 4 wheel drive truck traffic, no car. None of our vehicles are 4 wheel and frankly, it's not worth risking running one into a ditch by going into town or the city.

ALL YOUR FUZZY BUTTS BELONG TO US! The lil feller in the back has a perfect ghost shape on the top of it's head.

BUT…this is Cowley. We do things a little differently here. All of us on P&Z spent the weekend taking the deck down board by board. One of our Commission members is awesome at design, and he came up with a plan that would help Mrs. Teacher but stay within the setbacks. Bright and early Monday morning Mr. Teacher went into town hall and got his permit. Then his family rebuilt the deck (with help from several community members). Town Council levied a fine of $25.00 for the violation. The mayor paid it.

Congratulations, @CSolis on the adorable hatch! Me wants the little black guy with the white belly!

I have a feeling you will soon be hatching chicks produced by Tiny Dancer. You will be hooked!
That's a lil peep in from Mara my BCM and KE my Bantam. You can't hab it! Believe it or not the pure white one (color doesn't render right under a lamp) that has silver highlights is a full sibling to the one you wants!
Two little salt and pepper kids are from Raven and King Wheaties, also offspring of KE, and hopefully mates for Tiny Dancer. The three others are from Turtle Dove (Bielefelder x EE) and General Lee the first silkie I got. One actually silver and white with a ghost on the head, and the other two look just like Bielefelder chicks. Those (the silkie cross) females go to Shadow Captain, my second silkie.

I can hardly wait to get the incubator cranked up. Looked at it yesterday and asked myself if I was rushing things if I got it out and cleaned it, LOL.

It's still too cold for me to put the bachelors out in the old coop. Once this way too cold weather breaks I can think about doing it. Maybe another week. Then get the bantams into what is now the bachelor pen. I have a pretty small BBR boy that is a cross between one of my two BBR hens and one of my smaller Amish barnyard cross boys. The question is should I put him in with the SDW roosters and bantam/little hens or just shoot for SDW BBR crosses. Given that I have a dozen SDW roosters and 6-7 small/bantam hens and only one pure bred SDW hen (the other hens is slightly larger but not by much) it becomes a big decision. My other pure bred SDW hen was killed by two young cockerels last year......they were delicious, the dogs said after I cooked them and mixed them with their dog food.
