I had my uvula removed, but it didn't help. What made you decide to get it treated? Was it because your wife threatened to shove her fist down your throat and yank out that hangy down thing? I never could get DH to get it looked at.

Has he not noticed that he is tired every morning and all day and that it takes hours for the CO2 headache he has when he gets up in the morning to go away? What made you decide to get it treated? They also sometimes take out tonsils. I wasn't about to let them remove body parts to see if that helped or not. Can't exactly put them back in when it doesn't.I had my uvula removed, but it didn't help.
He’s really extremely stubborn. He says no way he’s going to wear a mask to bed. And yes he’s tired all the time.Has he not noticed that he is tired every morning and all day and that it takes hours for the CO2 headache he has when he gets up in the morning to go away?
DW noticed that I stopped breathing in my sleep then "startled", rolled over and started breathing again. Rinse and repeat many times a night. The paragraph above was more than enough for me to go for a sleep study. I also have fairly mild narcolepsy which is totally unrelated.
They force you to use a CPAP at first as the "standard treatment" that the insurance companies will pay for. When you find that the device of the devil keeps you breathing but doesn't let you sleep they consider other options. In my case the ENT offered body part removal or a trip to a dentist that made oral devices.
I chose the latter. I'm on my 3rd one now, probably 25 years total. The insurance company pays some as "durable medical equipment" though I had to fight with them the first time as they decided since the person making it was a dentist it was for dental purposes.
It would cost the insurance company less to cover the entire cost of the appliance than to buy and replace CPAP machines with humidifiers every few years.

OK, internet doctor with no medical training whatsoeverHe’s really extremely stubborn. He says no way he’s going to wear a mask to bed. And yes he’s tired all the time.
You would think so! Omg when we were first married he would scare me to death! He would be struggling to draw a breath, you could see his body trying to suck air but some flappy valve or something closed and he would do a big gasp and start panting. Truly frightening! I lost a lot of sleep over that.OK, internet doctor with no medical training whatsoeversays he has sleep apnea, can you confirm from first hand observation? Does he stop breathing while he is asleep then startle and start breathing again?
He should get a sleep study done and research the TAP device. I see there are similar devices sold for cheap but I don't know how comfortable they are given one size can't fit all when it comes to something that has to fit over your teeth. With TAP, and I presume there are other similar brands, they do a mould of your upper and lower teeth and send those to the lab to make the 2 retainer like parts of the device.
He can be stubborn if he likes but wouldn't he rather be stubborn and not tired all the ?
