So true. When my kids were little we never had a baby sitter. When I had to switch shifts, my wife would get another job on a different shift so one of us could always be home with them. Once they started school, I had to work evenings for years and I never saw them except in the morning and weekends. That was brutal. When I lost my job and had to travel for work, I now realize, no matter how much money I made - it wasn't worth being away from them.

I never had a babysitter for my children either.
Seeing the white sand reminds me of the collection of sand sample my grandfather collected from every trip. The sample was stored in a small plastic bottle shaped likw a pill bottle but clear, then wired to a board. He had dozens and dozens ---the sands of the beaches around the world are different colors and textures. . . . I have wondered who got that collection when he down sized . . .

I am glad it was off shore so no damage
On the East coast, Lots of things would have been Damaged. It would be a huge catastrophe. Things are built to take little Quakes like this one.
