Unless TSC gets silkies in I'm vaccinated.Hey, there, OFs!
Our local A&L Feed store had its first chick delivery last week. (They issue a printed "Poultry Schedule" every spring showing which breeds & how many chicks of each they'll be getting through late summer, including turkey poults and quail.) I'll have to time my shopping there till after each week's chicks have sold out; my flock of 8 young hens is well settled in, no room for more chickens, but ohhhh the temptation when those adorable little fluffballs are milling around cheeping their heads off...
I know that but if they are broody that's all I need. I have some that are to standard now and will have hatching eggs in April for more from where those came from. Love those little rascals. They have a big chicken attitude in a small package. You do not want TSC silkies - they are way far from breed standard.
I have banty in their own coop. Often big birds will pick on them.I know that but if they are broody that's all I need. Mine will be in their own coop and run too. Designing a coop for broody hens and maternity wards. In the brooder now I have 5 silkies and 6 regular sized chicks. Silkies are bossing the big kids around. So funny to watch them at this age.I have banty in their own coop. Often big birds will pick on them.
