The Old Folks Home

Something I've found to be very helpful, is cold/frozen fruit. Not just any fruits, but fruits with juice, that help hydrate. Watermelon, cantaloupe, berries. When the heat drains you, cold watermelon chunks not only help hydrate you, but because it's cold, it helps cool you too. In addition, it helps replenish your energy. When it's out of season, those bags of frozen fruit work well too. Come in from working, grab a small bowl full of frozen berries, or mixed fruits. Don't worry about thawing them much. They're so much better for us than ice cream, cold drinks, etc.

It works for chickens, it works for zoo animals, and it works for people too.
Thank you for the reminder! I was dizzy and had a head ache, fatigue. I drank but I stopped sweating Or passing any fluid.I went to the ER last night for fluids when I started vomiting. Turned out my sodium was depleted . I'm on a low sodium diet. I'm still supposed to keep drinking, just add more sodium to my diet.I have diabetes insidious and mineral bone disease, so the electrolyte balance is difficult

My DH is diabetic see he is hydrated but as we age we need to be.
made large doughnut wholes. Weeded most the garden.

Well this place is a zoo so I need a field of water melons to keep a few frozen.
