Jason and I wonder if the Dark egg shells that the Marans have are from the Penedesnecas. It seems likely that they share genetics from somewhere.

or Empordanesa since they are the older than Penedesenca.
I would suspect somewhere in Northern Spain or Southern France it was a possibility

8 more silkie babies! I am selling them about as fast as they come. But, I am keeping quite a few for myself too. Not enough to go around.
I love my egg layers too..I just let some out of my grow out pen. Will make my next flock. They are already so friendly. Nice combo for laying. Here are my silkie babies that hatched yesterday and today. :) Fluff!

Group shot. There is a Paint at the right. Hmm, never had one. Spots. Oh,
there, I just named it..soo original..don't ya think? Spots. Yep. Not sure
what that white one is, has some smoky coloring to it. In the head and neck area.
Pretty though, quite the beard going on too.

I'm screwed...I remember the washtub without the ringer washer...that came into our house when I was about 6 years old. Granny thought she had won 'Queen for a Day'!!!
