Im positively sure u cant plant a burpee onion seed in vidalia georgia.....and get a vidalia onion. I can plant the heirloom seeds from the fsmous vidalia onion seeds here, in alabama...and get really close to flavor and texture

You can buy the yellow granex onion (and its hybrids) from many sources, including Burpee. It's a sweet onion, wherever you grow it. If your soil is lacking in sulfur, the ones you grow may be as sweet as the ones grown in Vidalia, but only those that come from Vidalia can be called that.

BTW, according to the Vidalia growers' website in the link, there are 20 yellow granex hybrid varieties that are grown around Vidalia. Georgia - that doesn't sound like one heirloom variety to me.
