That's still a good idea. The bigger the breed, the bigger the risk. The better half usually tells people not to do heavy exercise with the dogs half an hour before eating or two hours after eating, especially with bigger dogs.Yah gastric torsion is nothing to fool with. Back in the 70's vets advised NOT to feed dry food and then let the dog tank up on water. I used to let the feed soak a bit first and then would wait 2 hours before putting the water bowls out.
Of course that was in the stone age. I would imagine vets know lot more now.
@subhanalah No, that's just her breakfast, raw pork (or chicken) and veggies, don't remember which she got yesterday for brekkie. She was fine once we got it out, and luckily the chicken feed was already mash when she ate it, so it didn't swell that much anymore.
If you ever need to get a dog to vomit, mix salt with a dash of water, and form a paste of it. Then force the dog to eat a bit of it (a ball about the size of your thumb for a medium sized dog), and a moment later, be ready with something to catch with. Or then you can just use apomorphine, but I think salt is the easier route to take.
