The Old Folks Home

I have got to share because I "can't" share on FB yet. My daughter told me this past weekend that she is pregnant with our first grandchild!

I am honestly really happy to be a grandma for the first time. I thought I might not like the idea of someone calling me "Grandma" but I just have visions of spoiling this child (and all others that come along the way) horribly and giving them back to their parents. I can't wait!

I am not allowed to share the news yet because they have not told her fiancée's mom yet. She told me that they were going to wait until Christmas. Hmmmmm 6 months pregnant? Not gonna last that long. In fact I told her I wasn't going to make it to Christmas so they needed to change their plans.

In the mean time, I got a new lens yesterday and had a little fun with it. Can't wait to take it out for a full spin this weekend.

Aaaw, congratulations, that is wonderful news!!

Additional congratulations for lasting as long as you have before spilling the news ... yep, 6 months of keeping that secret? I think not! lol

It is the Sigma 105mm F2.8 macro. I have been waiting for six weeks for it to show up. I was so happy to finally get it yesterday afternoon.

Ok, this is an official invitation to join our quilting group on BYC. Our next swap is not due until Dec 1 so lots of time to put stuff together.

Come over to my profile page and you can find links to quilting blocks. Hope to see you there.

Thanks for the invite. I didn't see a new thread, just an old one from June. Not really sure what a swap entails, but I can lurk, right? Test the waters?

My chickens love, love apples.

My chickens love apples, too, except about halfway through apple season when I'm at the height of canning. I bring all the cores and skin out and they look at me like "no way, woman. We just ate 20 pounds of that." When they start to turn their beaks up at it is when I start putting it in the food processor and then throw it on top of their food bowl. Wha-la! New food. Doesnt' Jerry Seinfeld's wife do that to their kids, too?

Today is my last day in a 12 day stretch at work. I had class last night, and I have class tonight until 9. I will try to sleep til 4 or 5 pm on Saturday (with a break for letting the biddies out at 5 am) but I doubt that will happen for me. The older I get the worse I sleep.

Woohoo, this might be a bit early to celebrate, but I just took a peek in the run, and Veera has exited the coop of her own accord. Perhaps these icepacks really work in breaking a broody. I have two Alho's in there right now, hopefully they're laying and not taking after Veera's earlier example. And if Veera has left an egg in there, that will mean 5 eggs today, if those two lay too. Wilma finally decided to lay again after holding out for 6 days. She really has changed the color to a darker shade in that time.

They make pretty nice affordable lenses. I have a Sigma DG 70-300 F1:4-5.6. It's the cheapo version without a stabilizer, and needs loads of light to function, but on sunny days you get really nice closeups.
