The Old Folks Home

It is the Sigma 105mm F2.8 macro. I have been waiting for six weeks for it to show up. I was so happy to finally get it yesterday afternoon.

nice lens

do you have a ring flash to go with it? I love my 100mm/2.8 lens. Its heavy though.

you should look out for an old 50mm/1.4 and a screw adapter to put it on the front of your sigma in reverse using an adapter ring. Macro is lots of fun

I have got to share because I "can't" share on FB yet. My daughter told me this past weekend that she is pregnant with our first grandchild!

I am honestly really happy to be a grandma for the first time. I thought I might not like the idea of someone calling me "Grandma" but I just have visions of spoiling this child (and all others that come along the way) horribly and giving them back to their parents. I can't wait!

I am not allowed to share the news yet because they have not told her fiancée's mom yet. She told me that they were going to wait until Christmas. Hmmmmm 6 months pregnant? Not gonna last that long. In fact I told her I wasn't going to make it to Christmas so they needed to change their plans.

Congrats on grandbaby-to-be!

I'd suggest your daughter change her plans; after all, this woman is going to be a part of her life for a looooong time.

When my mother was pregnant with my older brother, she was afraid her MIL would "hover" so she put off telling her (it was a lot easier in those days to keep people in the dark when you lived a couple of states away). When she was several months along, she got a call from her MIL, all excited - my father's brother's wife had just told her that she was going to have a baby. She was going to be a grandmother!! Mom was put in the awkward position of telling her, "Um, it's gonna happen a lot sooner than you think." I don't know if Grandma ever fully forgave her - certainly, it colored their relationship for many years.

Bunny I think they are waiting for a couple of reasons. One, they want to get past the wedding next month and two, SIL announced only about a month ago that she is pregnant so they have been wanting to not "steal her thunder". I would raise the BS flag over both reasons. They have been living together for two years, is it so surprising that she is pregnant now? Also, how can you steal someone's thunder when you are talking about grandkids. The more the merrier I say (as long as they are not living in my house

ETA - She really does get along very well with the MIL so that is not the issue.

Quote: Then there are certain things you should think about how to express them. I was still living at home when I had just met Karin maybe 2 months earlier. We left from our house in the car, and stopped when we saw my mother walking along the road. She asked where we were going, and I responded "To the women's clinic, Karin is getting a sonogram." The look on my mothers face was priceless. I've since learned that it's best to begin with "Karin has had some gastric issues, so we're going to the hospital."
