The Old Folks Home

@ozexpat I was just looking at some of your pics on your diary thread and I see you put in automatic water for some chicks.
Do you have that blue pvc hooked up to a hose or a bucket or what and is that a shut off with the red handle?

I bought the pvc and nipples and drink cups and want to set up some simple system so when we go on vacation I wont have to worry about the birds not being watered.
Even with auto water system, someone needs to check them to make sure they are working. I have had them fail on me.

I had no idea peafowl were so expensive. I was just looking on some auction websites and came across 4 peahens and 1 peacock. Someone has bid $1,100

Now that looks painful

Ouch that does look painful. I know rubber bullets are "non-lethal" but I didn't imagine they would leave such a huge bruise. Wow, I hope things really calm down. The situation is turning into some kind of frenzy and no one is benefiting from it but the looters. :(

My thoughts are that, if one is not healthy, a wound like that could be deadly.
If it hits the right (or wrong, really) spot, sure. A direct chest hit could probably stop a heart. At some point the same principal as with killing small animals with a shotgun blast must apply too, it's the shock effect the kills in that case, not the wounds.
