The Old Folks Home

awwww thats too bad. I love snow. Im betting we will all get our chance to take pics of snow before this winter is over

I'm a wee but tididly after sharing a couple of bottles of good, Amador county wine with my best friends this evening. Real corks and everything! They brought me a couple of home-made, Naughty Rooster tacos. Mmmm mmmm. Jack, my Polish house rooster sat on the back of the sofa (wearing his diaper) and oversaw the festivities. (We didn't tell him about the taco meat.).

Jack has forgiven me for the diaper, which is pretty big of him. He's finally learned not to fight it. I may have a welt across my jaw from his frenzied climb up my torso and over my head to escape it. (Friends said they couldn't see it, but I can feel it!)

What we do for our chickens....well, some of us, anyway.

SCG, there's an insert in the diaper pouch which is removable (thank goodness, because the last week before I received the inserts forgotten from my original order I had to take it off, dump it, and then wash the whole thing.... Then get it back on him.). The seller sent me a double order of inserts when I said I hadn't gotten 'em and this makes it so much easier. Just pull it out, replace the insert, voilà!

I have been removing the full insert 3 X a day: morning, afternoon, and before I go to bed at night.

I specifically ordered a diaper for Jack in a fabric with a black background so you can hardly see it at all amongst his feathers. I'll post a photo tomorrow - not at the computer and haven't figured out how to get photos onto my iPad or upload 'em ... Older iPad here.

The pattern on the fabric is muted roses and skulls, manly but with a feminine touch. The best thing is you can hardly see it on him. I have to hold him up to show the chest/belly strap, and the straps which cross over his back are covered by his feathers.

LOL

He sleeps on the back of the sofa.

Well, I'd stay up and natter atcha but the vino is making it harder to type. No, harder to type ACCURATELY - I spend too much time fixing words.

Rising BA, y'know. G'Night. Back later.

Thanks for the entertainment. I managed to snag one more hour of sleep. And now it's almost light so I don't feel like a zombie.

I long for those refreshing nights when I was about 10 years old when I could sleep like the dead and wake up totally refreshed. Now I fall asleep too early (because it's dark and I'm exhausted) and then I'm up 3 hours later and my mind won't stop thinking and let me go back to sleep.

I can't help you with all the factors, but I can suggest looking at your diet. Really. I lost the insomia when I tossed out all the high carb foods for a while. Stay low carb-- see what 120 carbs a day do for you. I had results in 4 days on very low carb ( <20/day) others by 10-14 days.

I sleep like a rock now. The dogs bark to go out at night, then back to sleep usually before I lay down.

THe cold weather has hit here overnight after a few warm days in the 40's. Hoses frozen, kids said they drained them-- hope they did a good job. My hands are looking old this winter--dried and super wrinkly. I even use rubber gloves to wash dishes to save them. Sure need the dish washer fixed!!! I'm rethinking my life---fewer animals, more electronics!!!
