The Old Folks Home

Wow twice today I got on here for a minute to find 100+ posts!
Been busy sorting and moving chickens around to make more room in my pens.
Chicken math get you again?

So its your turn to play God.

There are six and only six doses of a drug that nobody knows will work, nobody knows side effects and nobody knows if dosage is correct.

Who do you give it to?

New rule suggestion.

For every negative post we have to post one positive.

This used to be a happy place.

It's great to vent but also a great place to share happy stories.

Oz, how are those Marans of yours doing in the egg production department?

Also, in positive news, the sun has finally blessed us with it's presence, after a week and a half of rain. Today we're going to plant a plum tree.

Oz, I vote the drugs go to the Telephone Sanitisers, Marketing Executives and Management Consultants.

My quail are hatching!

There was however, a slight oops in the incubation process, on top of the fact that these are shipped eggs, so also

Congrats Alaskan!

Just a quick note on the Me v 5 stubborn bantams at bed time.

I adopted the 'tough love' approach and blocked off the 'corner', leaving the extension as the only comfortable sleeping area. The 3 nest box dwellers settled down pretty quickly and without much drama. The 2 divider dwellers were not so happy .. much squarking, temper tantrums and persistent attempts to break down the barricade to the old digs but I just kept popping them up on the roost. They jumped down three times and I popped them back. I won because it got too dark for them to jump down. So while they are probably a bit 'annoyed' with me right now, they are now sleeping on an appropriate roost and not the divider.

To be honest, it was actually less stressful for me than the constant bickering and squabbling at bed time. If I keep this up for a week or so, hopefully they will get the idea. Sadly, I think I am going to have to block off the corner each evening because I have a sneaking feeling that Cilla will go back to it if it is ever available. I do not want to block it off permanently because that would waste too much coop space which they use during the day; it was not too difficult to block off but I will be able to come up with something to make it easier, a sliding panel or similar.

But, all in all, a pretty good first night :)

a major part of the 100 posts deal is seems like everyone keeps quoting the same posts, photos etc. to infinity. It is so tedious, I don't bother to scroll down and see if a fresh comment is made at the bottom.

thought the quotes and nested quotes and unnested quotes, whatever were against the rules here.

Love, love, love this thread but people keep trying to kill it.

I don't turn on theTV because I'm sick of all the politics and other topics that are beaten too death by over discussion. Seems like every poster wants to get in the last word. I pop in for sanctuary and it's all talk shows. I want the ' OLD, Old folks home back-Please.

I have never quoted and vow NOT to do so, even if I knew how to do it.

please ignore lower case - my hands are having a miserable time in typing now, and I have had to go over many times the wrong letters keep coming up

I know there is a handy button on here to fix some of the issues anyway and I plan on using it.

Speaking of vacations, did I happen to mention that SCG and I are going to the Grand Canyon in October?

I am "almost" as excited about this trip as the trip to my daughter's wedding. I am really excited about the chance to get some wonderful pictures on both trips.

Speaking of pictures let's see if this works now. Nope, they still haven't fixed that bug. Dang
Oz you will have to light up the thread with the pictures of your kids once they fix it. Hope all is well.

While emotionally it seems arrogant to bring a human with ebola into the country on purpose, vials of pure concentrated virus are being transported internationally all the time along with agents that are far more contagious. Imagine if that plane went down?

What seems like arrogance is because of ignorance as to the process.

The risk is severely outweighed by the benefits.

The kids say hi.

Lorenzo was at the airport to greet me but Toni was at a rehearsal at school so we picked her up on the way home.

They cuddled me before I passed out and are now at gymnastics and ballet practices.

We will spend the night in Bacolod and head out tomorrow.

Not taking the bait.

And how could MSNBC keep Piers Morgan whose flagrant lies about things...
And when did Piers work for MSNBC?

Um, that would be - NEVER.

I'm doing the same but mostly with chicks. Legbanding gets to be a chore with so many.
Between trying to get the overly tall grass cut, gardening and rebuilding/repairing buildings, I'm trying to keep up with the burgeoning flock and losing the battle.

It's great to vent but also a great place to share happy stories.
I remember you're dissatisfaction with the local chickens which started this endeavor. Are you happy with your results?

I try to cut down the size of the quotes to what I'm commenting on. I also usually delete photos.
