Gads! Do you think that was caused by genetics or their food? Maybe environment? I'm grasping at straws. I've never seen that and I hope I never do!

Take the top off, spritz with clean water and go do chicken chores. When finished, but not more than two hours, check to make sure the eggs are dry and then put the top back on. Do this from day 8 to lockdwn.
There have been studies and this method will increase hatch rate. It makes the chicks hatch better too. I just did this with shipped CCL eggs 7 or 8 fertile eggs hatched a day early.
Quote: CC it is strange looking at it. Did you keep it or give it away?
They haven't e-mailed me yet. I have it frozen for the time being.Very interesting, thank you for sharing. I've had quite a few strange defects happen during hatching, but nothing like that. Each time I'm amazed at what can go right (or wrong). Did the university end up taking it?
Very cute.I have got to make something this year to draw attention to flu season. If you were with us last year you saw the Vaccination Vixen outfit complete with knee high boots, red cape and mask:
This year I've got to come up with something equally as funny to draw attention (and thus interest) to the roving carts of flu vaccine for staff and patients.
Anyone have any fine ideas?
Oh so true.... They are your greatest joy but they are also your greatest sorrows at times.
I think it's Bill Engvall, of blue collar comedy fame that said, "you can say anything you want about someone as long as you follow it up with - 'Bless his heart'."Down here we would say "Well bless your heart".
Nice...
Now.... Cuteness:

It's not a roosting bar, that's the automatic water nipple system. I have to add more but the 1/2,1/2,1/8" tee fittings were out of stock. They're supposed to be here Tuesday.Ooooo! I didn't see the roosting bar you have there. That is soooo neat!
What? Defrost? Huh? Didn't I get an auto-defrost?
Huh? Am I supposed to do cleaning or maintenance? Again, huh?
Me do no do such thing called "cleaning" or "maintenance" I do not know these words that you use.![]()
Sometimes out of range temperatures in the incubator can cause malformations as well as inadequate turning, jarring eggs, storing small end up, breeder disease, inadequate nutrition but I don't think a third leg growing from the tail would be one of those malformations.Gads!
