The Old Folks Home

My wife will be watching a program and I'll ask her what they said and she says, I don't know. This happens all the time. She sits in front and blanks out.

I've rarely been to the library since Google. Don't know how I'd do research, or more importantly, how I did research without it. There is a lot of misinformation on the internet though. I tend to look for scholarly articles based on research.

The internet is wonderful but it takes a while to figure out how to ferret fact from fiction. That much information can't be true. I just coined that expression.
For political things, I like Politifact's 'pants on fire' section which verifies or vilifies crazy things politicians say.

It's amazing how much politicians and pundits lie and they don't get called out.

It's already 93 and realfeel of 103. Heat index will be over 110 today. I'll have to put an air conditioner in with the chicks.

I seldom watch TV. I watch chicken TV daily. I spend a lot of time outside and listen to music.

It apparently was a rolling type quake. Wow! The magnitude is huge! So glad the Napa condo sold a few months ago. Had a horrible experience with the Loma Prieta earthquake way back when and glad not to rock and roll in that fashion anymore (Bay Area born and bred and resident for 40 years). Still, I'd rather have an earthquake than a tornado.

Coffee is good this morning (Peets). Life is good. Happy Sunday everybody!

We are fairly fart from the epicenter. A couple of BYC members checked in this morning. Walt says that he does not see damage on the house. His chickens are ok. Debi says it woke her up but all is well.

I slept through it but my DW did feel it and she said the chickens were making noise. The chickens were acting odd at 6 when I got up too.

I was actually up doing dishes when the earthquake hit. (Don't ask me why I felt compelled to get up at 2:30 to do the dishes.) The hanging wine glasses began swinging and I thought our two psycho kittens had somehow made them move until I noticed the hanging light was also swinging. DH was awake in bed and the bed moved. Then the chickens started alarm calling like they were being attacked. Either it shook them awake or knocked a few off the roost. They took a while to calm down. I sure hope that it doesn't throw them off with their egg laying.

I feel badly for those people who were injured and/or had their property damaged. There are several water mains and gas lines broken with flooding and fires. Hopefully, all the aftershocks will be small.

why can't it just be that you were "disturbed" for some reason that you were not entirely conscious of but you FELT the quake coming?
I think as humans we severely sell ourselves short!

That was my reaction too.

Poor Ron.

My garden basically exploded the last few days. Just about to start putting tomatoes into the pressure canner. Next will be some dilly beans if I have all the supplies for it. If not, frozen for soup. Then I need to tend to my two breads that are rising.

I love Sundays.

I know...I fixed it but they quoted it too fast. It was very early in the morning but typos are common for me....

I was looking at a pressure canning system the other day too.
