The Old Folks Home

Latestarter, I can feel for you. Every week it's something else on the computer.

The wireless mouse went out - so my brother gave me a spare one that is wired. He couldn't get behind the desk to have the wire go back there, so it's hanging off the front of the desk and under a shelf where it passes out to the something on the side.
That leaves very little cord left to navigate with.' Mouses' are not my friend, I have a lot of trouble getting them where I want them to go, and the 'leash' makes it almost impossible for me.

Then the wireless keyboard went out, it may have been from me giving it the Heimlich maneuver, to get loose crumbs, potting soil, etc. out from the keys, a few times a week.
Afterwards I read you aren't suppose to whack it on the back because it has sensitive, connections that could be damaged. Who knew? It never went out before.

My brother let me have the mint condition keyboard he got with his last computer. He never used it because he didn't like. Silly me never asked what he didn't like about it. WELL, it has the Cap lock in the same position my Shift key was on the ailing wireless. Also some mystery(to me) key that makes everything I've typed disappear in a flash.

Every time I try to post on BYC or anywhere, I keep hitting the ^%^&* cap lock. Then I hit it to unlock. Try again and I keep hitting the cap lock over and over and over again. Some of my posts take 10 minutes to finish and then I'm so goofed up I forget to hit submit -

I had a lot more posts for here but, I figured it was best to give up and try another day.

My old manual office typewriter never pulled any of that stuff.

Maybe we need a bail bondsman or Get out of Jail free card. Someone once gave me a card that was "Get out of HE double hockey sticks "- It didn't look heatproof so I passed it on.

The Princess goes on an outing. Cafeteria, here we come. Oh look...a Ben and
Jerry's.

Love her! Just precious. I also love children's hospitals. They sure know how to cater to the children. I took my son with spina bifida to Primary Children's Hospital out here in SLC. Great place, and that was back in the 80's/early 90's. Wonder what they have going now. Grat to see her so happy. What is that in her hand..ice cream?

oz, ice cream is slippery, do you like ice cream?

I know that to you, the above post explained a very long and frustrating day.

However, maybe it will make you feel better that everything that you typed up above, rang so true to me, that I just kept laughing and laughing.

So many things to comment on...

Diva, if you see a can of compressed air, buy that. Every once in a while, give the keyboard a little spraying to get out stuff, and then vacuum it.

Deb, celery (the stalk kind) is great in risottos, you chop it up and fry it with the onions before you start with the rice. Bell peppers are great in many foods, and I like them a lot better cooked. Stuffed bell peppers is one of my favorites. I should probably make those again sometime. Cauliflower is something I can't stand raw, but if you steam it in cream, and then purée it, season with a bit of salt and pepper, it goes great with lamb dishes. Fresh cilantro is something I really don't like. I sometimes use it for lamb marinades, but I can't stand it when it's used t garnish dishes. Every time someone makes something with it, they think you need a whole field full of cilantro on top of food. Yuck.

Oz, the asparagus is another thing that's great in risottos too, or then just steamed or grilled and served with a bit of butter. How can you feel so strongly about corn? It doesn't even have a too strong taste... The baked beans I can understand, many people don't like them.

Avocado has never been much of a favorite of mine. It works nicely with shrimp though. And I like guacamole, and avocado pasta is actually pretty decent too.

Finnish tomatoes are seldom good, and neither are the Spanish ones sold here. Tomatoes in Italy taste great though, they're allowed to ripen properly.

Latestarter, is it possible you had a power surge?

Typically when the power does anything weird, all the clocks flash 12:00 and do not advance... they are all working fine.

But it's the only real thing that makes any sense for all these electronics issues... I mean what else? sun spots maybe? an EMP device nearby? a communist plot? government conspiracy? Whatever it was, I hope it doesn't happen again for a long time!

Static electricity could be a culpret as well. Here in San Diego we have a few static days not as much as in the desert though. And we Rarely have thunder and lightening days. Grounding yourself and your computer desk or work areas is easy to do. When I worked at Qualcomm we had grounding pads that sat on top of the desk and the computers sat on top of the pads. All you needed to do is touch the pad before you touched anything electronic.
