The Old Folks Home

Like the idea of a slide out poop box - you can do it, I know you can.

I seem to want a sandwich but don't know why...

That happens to me all the time........Welcome, Henni! I am glad you have joined us in the Old Folks Home.
I had ten more sandwiches ready to post but the internet connection died.

I guess you are lucky....

It's okay, Oz, we know you like to do things right! No wonder your DW puts up with you!

I hate to say this, but that plain tomato sandwich sounds better to me than all the gourmet type sandwiches. There is just something about a delicious home grown tomato that just can't be beat.

The old stand-by is hard to beat, I still get excited about that, especially when it's been a while since I've had one. I have to admit, though, that my taste in sandwiches can run to the exotic on occasion. I'm not afraid to try something new, at least once......Twice, if I like it......
This thread merely informs about the existence of wonderful food things, you yourself must still make them. Unless Oz is willing to deliver, in which case I'll have the egg plant panine.

I was drooling over a couple of those, myself, but I won't have an Oz sandwich, even if he was willing to deliver.
Unt uh, not me, I'm a good girl.

I would love to claim this as my issue as well, but at almost six feet tall as it is, I'm afraid people wouldn't buy it. What? Am I supposed to be nine feet tall?

@Chickadoodle s That's 56 inches by 8 feet, so enough for 9-ish hens. The total height ground to roof is 6 feet. It will be enclosed with lots of windows and vents (and auto door to the run). The interior will have a roost shelf at one end and exterior nesting boxes at the other. One 8-foot side will have doors to open up for clean out and I'm hoping for a cleanout half door up by the poop shelf so I can scoop from the outside (there being a shallow box contraption under the roost containing PDZ). If I get real engineery, the poop shelf box may be a slide-out drawer mechanism.

And -- you nailed it -- nails go very quick! Something tells me Lowes may think I'm a groupie before this project is done.
Sounds very nice!
This year after all the leaves fall we are going to vacuume them up and put them in the coops in large piles for the hens to spread out and pick through so they will have very deep litter.

I prefer screws, had I known I preferred screws my nesting box would not have "shattered" when I dropped it while re vamping my coop... Oh well I used to prefer finishing nails. Lol
Lesson learned
The sad part is two day latter my arms are killing me because of a little 18 volt drill.... Haha that why I prefer hand tools, not so darn heavy.
I still want a sandwich, thinking tuna or meatloaf for lunch.... Heck maybe breakfast.

Mann I just ate and I am hungry again....

Tonight for dinner since its so hot here I made Pinwheels

flat bread spread with spinach dip
Layer of roast meat like Roast beef, Turkey or ham
Layer of Thinly sliced to matoes
Layer of THinly sliced havarta cheese (mild swiss cheesy taste)
Layer of Leafy lettuce.... any type you like
Then roll the bread to make the pinwheel Sort of like making a burrito without folding the ends in.

Then wrap in foil or parchement and pop in the refrigerator to chill down before slicing.

Just before serving slice into pinwheels. Cut whole roll in half then cut each half into quarters...

Serve with fruit...

You can also switch the spinach dip out for Whipped cream cheese....

deb

With the tomatoes, Cheese etc a little chopped sweet basil sounds good.

I, too am vertically challenged. I'd make a perfect jockey if I could ride AND if a horse could bear my weight and not break 4 legs. They sure don't make horses like they used too.

Have I got the horse breed for you! The Halflinger. Stout, strong and short themselves. Yet with a grace and elegance and their gorgeous blond locks that makes them irresistible.
