The Old Folks Home

To my understanding, when kept like pets, they are really pretty doglike. When I was about 15, one summer I used to run into a guy walking his mini-pig when going out with our dog. Our dog and his pig usually sniffed each other a bit, we exchanged a few words, and carried on. That pig was about 100 pounds at the time, don't know what they did to it later.

We let the chickens loose on the salad patch this morning.

When we went to the Co-op this last week I bought some wheat, oats, turkey delight and game bird starter. Then we went to TSC and got 5 bags of feed and wild bird seed mix and some show bird feed. I spend at least 30 min. mixing it all in with my catfish feed except for the game bird starter. Then I throw out wild bird seed with some of the other seeds and whole corn for a treat in the afternoon or evening. And I am sprouting oats, wheat and boss mixed to give for treat once a week. But I am just enjoying them till DH makes me get rid of them all next year.

Tell him you'll scale back but not get rid of all of them.  Just a few.   :D

I am trying there are three pens i want to keep

Here's the latest to hatch out... Ethel

She's a RIR x CCL and an auto-sex, but just so darn cute! (And everyone needs a cute chick pic to start the day)

"I am one day old!"

Oh, boy... Those piglets are sure cute! Good thing our CC&R's don't allow them or I'd have a wallow out in the orchard.

(Actually, I probably could have one or two as nobody here stringently follows the CC&R's which allow for farm animals either two horses or two cows and up to 10 fowl, and pet-wise two dogs or two cats. My neighbors on either side have four or so horses each and most everybody has 3+ dogs. However, since we have no HOA Board, if someone were to complain it would be the village's P&Z Department which would come down on you with fines and reprimands and a write-up of noncompliance)
