Felix, the additions to your coop look great! I'm thinking of wrapping tarps around the sides, leaving space at the top for ventilation and see how that goes. May look into a thick clear sheeting. I like that the sun can come thru something clear. The bottom couple of feet is metal roofing at least, so that will help cut the draft. I was reading about that open front coop idea and that seems pretty fascinating. I may try one in the future.

The Grand Canyon trip photos look amazing! It looks like y'all had a great time! I've never been before, really need to get out there soon. I haven't been in any of the western US mountains, only the eastern.

I like the idea of an open front too, but I think it requires a slightly bigger coop to work. Plus it needs to be directed away from the wind, and preferably facing south to get maximum sunlight in. Our coop is so small what with an open wall, it would just blow everything in, especially since it's facing the wind.

I like openings that face east. It catches the morning sun and in the northern hemisphere is away from the prevailing wind. Also in a hot climate a south opening will really heat the coop.

Tonight was round up night! Why can't they go to be where they are supposed to go?

I've been having to do the same, but I know where they are every night..in the coop yes, but, all 6 of them are inside the nest boxes. If I don't put them on the roost, then I have a mess to clean up. I need to be more consistent in going out every night, maybe they will get it. Some were roosting on the roost, but when they saw the others in the nest boxes..copy cats they became. :/

Frozen.... When I buy stuff on sale like this I always ask for the frozen ones out of the box in the freezer....
