Big round hay bales around here are being wrapped with green netting. Im going to find out more about it. Im thinking it comes on a long roll. Im pretty sure its inexpensive because the cost of hay bales hasnt increased since they started using it. It may be the perfect thing to cover runs with

hey Dude you could cut it into strips say forty feet long and sell the stuff on BYC which would give you 246 strips if you sold them for 15 bucks a piece.... Thats almost 3700 dollars. .... Just sayin....

the specs say its uv resistant....

This must be predator season.

I lost several of the free range birds over the past two weeks. I have found three, half eaten, in the nest box off the run and four or five in the enclosed room that could only have been accessed through the pop door. All of these happened during the day! We killed a possum last weekend, caught it in the coop after lockup. I thought it would be the culprit and that I would not lose any birds for a while. Wrong. I lost another small one inside, and found a grown hen tucked away beside the fence about twenty yards from the coop, killed, but not eaten.

I have now declared war.

I bought two of he paw traps and set them, baited with mini marshmallows. I also set the live trap and baited it with sardines. I didn't let the chickens out so they will be in the run right next to the traps. I also set up a game camera on the area where the traps are set and where the predator likely entered the coop on the previous occasions. I will catch the sucker even if I have to camp out on the roof of the shop and shoot it myself!!! Grrrrrrrr.
