The Old Folks Home

AndSounds good Arielle, then again if I bake a whole cake someone has to eat it right?

Tick sorry I just couldn't resist.

Wisher now would be the perfect time for ducks

Dsq I'm so so sorry no way I could handle that much snow.

Scg poor little eyeore

Noncentzer it speaks volumes about how often we bake bread when we have to find our loaf pans. On the other hand at least we have one to find.

Conversation between me and DD when I almost handed her the frappe instead of chocolate milkshake.
Me" that was close you would be up all night if you drank coffee now."
"mommy why do you drink coffee at night "
" because mommy has a high caffeine tolerance"
" mom you have a coffee problem"
" why do you say that"
" because you drink coffee every day"
" yes dear and it's only a problem if mommy doesn't have coffee"

Oh I remember the migraines the days I didn't get my fix!!

All evening long, I have been vibrating with eggscitement mixed with trepidation. I think Punkin, the BO pullet spending nights in my house along with Beth BR, has laid her first egg!

Both girls have been squatting for me for over a week, Beth first. Beth has nicely reddened comb and wattles. Punkin, not so much. Beth doesn't just settle somewhere, she makes herself a hollow in the sofa throw in which to nestle.

However, late this afternoon, Punkin started "working" on the dog bed under the TV set table. She settled into it. Then she started to pant and stood, the feathers over her vent pulsing. I was sure she was gonna expel an egg but she didn't; after a few minutes, she stopped and walked away. A little bit later, she sang the Egg Song. Okay, I thought, she's practicing.

It really was too early for her to stay inside the house, so I shooed her back outside to join Beth. Dusk fell, the flock cooped up, and both Beth and Punkin stood on the patio table looking at the French doors. I opened the door and they scampered inside.

Leaving a small egg on the patio table.

The sun is shining, thankfully, after wind so strong that it woke me at 3:42 this morning. For those cover in snow, I hope it melts quickly.

Anyone else like coffee with chicory? Yum.

gryeyes, congrats on the egg!

It is windy here too but that is normal. Woodland is one of the windiest places.

It is forcast to be in the mid 70s by the weekend. The warmer than normal temps is causing early blooming so there may be problems with the wince crush this year.

Better get the 2 buck chuck(now costs more that 2 bucks) all stocked up!
