I bought the bird seed mix and nature domain cat food on Thursday. I mix them and give it to the chickens as a treat each day

I buy virtually all my FF mixin's from the Agfinity co-op. I could also get wild bird seed mix or BOSS at the tractor supply http://www.tractorsupply.com/ I think the last 50 lb bag of BOSS was like $17...

So Ron, is that cat food a wet food? How do you give it as a treat and the lower ranked birds get any? What quantity do you give them?

I mix it at about 15% cat food. They get it in the evening before dark--it distracts them while I collect eggs.

It is a dry, small kibble sized disk. I like it because it is sweet potatoes, salmon meal and fish meal. I give it to them in three piles. Those lowest on the pecking order still get some that way.

I buy 50# bags at the farmers co-op for 11.00 a bag they also have a mix called turkey delight that all my birds love and it is 11.00 for 50#. I mix the seed in with their feed and they tear it up!

We don't seem to have a farmers co op here...Makes me sad....

ok I keep seeing ppl say BOSS what is it?

Black Oil Sunflower Seeds.... They eat them shell and all. My horse mumbles when she gets her seedsies.... She loves them so much she will go back and pick them out of her poo if one makes it through.....

Normal for horses... acutally good for them helps keep their gut healthy.... Same for chickens too actually.

Both rely on gut flora and fauna for good digestion.

Thats why fermented feed is soo good.
