The Old Folks Home

No, the anti theft system was acting up. Luckily I've been through this before so it was an easy fix, last time I borrowed the keypad I needed but now I found my very own. And the price was very good, if I would have had to buy a new one it would have been 400 euros.

Next time just buy a cheap car without a security system!

I don't want power doors, power windows, automatic transmission. This last time I had to get power windows and doors unless I wanted to buy a very old vehicle. I fear next time there will be no manual transmissions left.

The way I see it though, the manual transmission is my security system.

SCG, the girl actually turned 18 today, and she's been in the family since she was new, so she's quite old. Karin's grandfather bought her in -97. At that point, most cars had some sort of anti theft system, and a year later they became mandatory in all new cars in the EU. It doesn't have an alarm, but the ECU won't allow the engine to start unless the anti theft system gives it permission.

It might be nice to upgrade at some point, but she's only done 110000 km, so there's still some driving left in her.

I had a 1995 Dodge Neon that was nothing more than seats, a steering wheel and a transmission. She was fabulous. I got 46 miles per gallon in her and I cried when my mechanic told me I really had to replace her (mechanic is BF's uncle, so I do trust him).

I have a 2009 Suzuki now, still no anti theft system, except the manual transmission and the fact that I live in Maine. I just hit 70,000 miles in her with almost zero problems with that car.

My favorite vehicle was my 1984 Chevy Scottsdale pickup truck. I would still drive that truck if I could and if it got more than 9 miles per gallon. You could see the gas gauge go down every time you accelerated.

Hi SCG!

Long time no chat, did you ever get your garlic planted?
We get our honey around here from the Amish that come and sell at the Farmer's Market in the summer time.

Morning and Happy New Year everyone!!! Hope you all had a safe and fun evening. Very quiet here. Only fireworks we saw were on TV and a thread or two exploding due mostly (my guess) to excessive PUI's

. So glad to see this one made it thru. Really great folks on here

More snow this morning and the temps are actually above zero but not supposed to last for long. Must have gotten a lot colder than that for a while last night tho because the water was frozen in the coop. That doesn't happen unless the temps really plummet.

New Years' resolutions/goals anyone???? Would love to hear some!!!!

Mine is obvious, to be more careful!!!
