The Old Folks Home

I have a problem.. My incubator freaked out and was at 104-106 last night for maybe 4-6 hrs. I'm on day 16.I candled and there is some sluggish movement this morning. Do you guys think they will be OK?
Movement equals life!

The spike was not long enough to cause hatch problems and if it did not kill them outright they should be fine. Get the temp back to normal and candle again in three days.

Are you confident that your thermometers are correct?

I have a great thermometer its my its my thermostat that could by better, I can't seem to get it at 100- 101. either I get98-99 or it jumps to 104. Its my fault I had it balanced at 99 and thought I'd try for just a bit more, should have left well enough alone.

OMG!!! I just found the tick getting beat thingy.....

Now my day is complete. anytime I feel the need to get Bitchie slapped. (notice how I try to get past the censored version), I have it here.

Try a little harder, Tick.............

Quote: I had a couple of spikes to 104 and still had a decent hatch. Hang in there, all you can do is correct the temp and wait.

What is your incubator? If a home made one, there is a cool digital combo back that is priced at about $100.00. Where did I see the Ikea kitchen cabinet incubator this morning? I will have to find it....

I have a hobavotor we bought for snake and gecko eggs about 10 yrs ago. It works as well as it ever did but reptiles can take temp swings. Thanks for the help I was afraid I took 2 weeks to cook poached eggs.

The closer they are to hatching, the harder it is to kill them with temperature spikes!

I hope you have a great hatch!

If socks are larval hangers, why am I always running out of hangers? Or do they just have a short lifespan?

I'm going to need a lot more socks, then. And it's "a lot" there is no "alot" in the English language.

I'll go put my nerd away, now. And try to get back to work.

I have been told I have my own language, not sure why. I think because my mouth can not keep up with my brain..

See, another break. Lots done but breaking more than not....

and thanks for all the answers.....

Now back outside. Possible rain tomorrow and I have all the plants out in case it does. Then back in the plant room due to a little cold front coming Tuesday night. They have been doing good inside this winter but need, to me, real sun light and rain water....

have fun, ya know I will...
