The Old Folks Home

Yeah. Skip shipping the seeds.... We want sashimi!

Well, maybe not sashimi that's loitered in the postal system....

We have the jet. All fueled and ready to go. Shhh

Is anybody using sand as bedding?
Not here. I'd like to try it in the run though.

I apply that philosophy to cooking, sewing, building, really anything. Observe what others have done, take inspiration, hopefully learn from their mistakes, and improve the design in what you make yourself.
It's the hopefully learn from their mistakes that gets tricky.

Good points.

If it's something I've never cooked, like the first time I cooked rutabagas or some obscure meat, I'll look at recipes to get some ideas but that's only for how long to cook or some herbs that go well. I usually just go to the fridge/pantry and start pulling things out and putting a meal together.

There's a Latin/Asian market fairly close called Seafood City Supermarket. They have hundreds of fish that I've never heard of. I plan on bringing a notebook with me next time to write down names, most are not in English. But I want to take advantage of this bounty and it's mostly inexpensive. Then I'll do some research to figure out what I want to buy.

Seafood City is a Filipino-centric market - often with remittance centers, banks and Pinoy franchise stores inside or nearby.

They are best navugated with a friendly Filipino that can cook.

Thats pretty much how I cook. I rarely have all the ingredients... I dont justify buying a single herb unless I am going to use it for more than one recipe. Though I may justify buying an ingredient just because I never tasted it before.

But I look at recipes to see techniques and timing and order. then I go from there.
