The Old Folks Home

Sounds like an excellent way to get sunburned in very sensitive areas.

Sometimes it is way better to be older and wiser.

Not that sensitive.
Old is very good.
How did we ever live this long?
I once considered jumping out the window of an apartment on the 15th floor of an apartment building in Frankfurt, Germany. I'm not sharing the reason.

Sounds like a craigslist moron, I've dealt with them selling cars. If he didn't know the hens combs are supposed to flop over he doesn't know anything about chickens.

My thoughts exactly. I knew from a few phone conversations that he was an ampersand hole but I didn't expect this.
I like bamas idea.

Oh, it was so full.
I definitely never wanted to look back in time and say, "I wish I would have done that".

As I was growing up, I never wanted to be at any other stage of life. I thought I had made all the right moves.

Now, in my 60s, I can think of so many situations I wish I could rewind.

Like the time I thought it would be a good idea to be naked on a canoe trip down the Gasconade river and hang from an overhanging branch. Not a good idea.
(I changed the name of the river to protect the innocent and divert attention from the Wisher types still trying to find me)

I think I'm beyond the statute of limitations on some things.

I shouldn't share all the things I've done but, here goes.

In the army, we thought it would be funny to take pictures of ourselves in our company commander's office, sitting at his desk with our feet on his desk, smoking a bowl of hash.
Actually it was only me, I just said friends for the group collaboration reinforcement.

I have chickened out on occasion.
Like how I brought it back to the point of the forum?

I once stood on the precipice of Corbet's couloir in Jackson Hole ready to drop in. I thought about how great it would feel to ski the impossible. Then I thought about how it would feel and how I would look if I made a little mistake.

Scary.
This video shows it done poorly, I wouldn't have been that wimpy.

the key is IMMEDIATELY start hop turns with a gentle edge

So many people stand there and bail

I remember using real chainsaws in the 60s that rarely needed tightening during the day and rarely had a chain jump off.

I have a Husqvarna 455 Rancher. With the factory 20" bar the chain popped off all the time, even with it tighter than I like. For easier hand sharpening and faster cutting I switched to a 16" bar, I even get through big stuff, just have to go around. It was a Oregon bar, chain stays on now even loose. First thing I do is throw the stupid slow cutting anti kick back chain away (keep it for a spare) and buy a fast cutting chain with teeth!

CC I have no idea how the heck we survived growing up without helmets, knee pads, car booster seats, mandatory seat belts or restrictions for riding in the back of pickup trucks. ;) Granted, I do believe seat belts and helmets are a good idea but really if we wrap them in bubble wrap, they aren't going to understand that the world is tough on you at times. OMG I don't think you could sell Lawn Jarts legally anymore.

That's because some of us didn't . . .sorry to say. Lost a friend to a car. 5 year olds don't stand a chance. Or a motorcycling friend that was hit head on by a car. . . . no helmet would help in that situation. Flew 30 feet over the embankment onto rocks . . . ..

THe safety gear saves us from the little dings, not the big bangs. ANd the safety gear INCLUDES thinking about the consequences. Jumping from the 15th floor would take a serious situation to seriously consider jumping. About weighing the results I guess.

Age brings wisdom. . . lol glad to be older with fewer day to day dings. lol

(Former)Step son lost his bf when he was riding on the hood of a car. They were going only 15 or 20 my step son said. When the car stopped he fell off hi his head on the pavement. It was a stupid game they played. I had just showed my step son an newspaer article about a young man who died doing that a couple months before when I heard some kids were doing this. He said he wasn't. Afterward he confessed he did. Never saw him so upset. :(

Cc thats gangsta.

It was a gangsta moment with every form of gangstas and LE involved. Glad I lived.

Jackson Hole, the back bowl of Copper Mtn, skiing the waterfall with my 12 year old daughter in the back country of Wolf Creek pass and some runs on Ajax are gangsta too.

I have done the Valluga, St Anton with my kids (both pretty good skiers but my daughter is more timid taking after my wife), the double blacks of Steamboat, scary runs in Verbier, Switzerland and the Matterhorn/Klein Matterhorn

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/s...rlds-scariest-ski-runs-terror-at-the-top.html

My daughter, who always questioned everything I said, listened to every word and followed my instructions perfectly when we got lost and were on a sheer frozen waterfall with no option to retreat.

My wife and I were skiing with a bunch of my Danish friends from Ischgl, Austria to Samnaun, Switzerland. We were on a circuitous run back to the lifts to take us back to Austria. I saw where I could jump off a cliff and beat everyone to the bottom. My best Danish friend said if I did it, he'd do it too. Off we went only to find that there was just a light dusting of snow over the rockfield. We both ruined our skis and had quite a tumble when the rocks and skis brought us to an immediate halt. A good reason to carry 2 pairs of skis to Europe if you might get stupid.

Has anyone watched the show Rediculousness by Rob Dyrdek (skate boarder) on MTV?
