The Old Folks Home

I know your weather is going to be crummy the next few days SCG but I am giggling a little over the whole "EPIC PROPORTIONS" description of the storm. It is a nasty one and you will get a good amount of snow but I would argue the newscaster's description of the storm being more than a nasty northeaster. I do remember the blizzard of 78 when we got like five feet of snow in a 24 hour period. We were out of school for almost two weeks for that one.

It's not necessarily the amount of snow, it's the lack of visibility. 50 mph winds with fluffy snow = whiteout conditions.
Was told around noon that my new service line is "unessential" and that we don't come in tomorrow.
20 minutes later an email went out identifying me as "an employee with a telework agreement and you are required to telework tomorrow if you have electricity."

I signed that darned telework agreement in my old service line.

I'll be working tomorrow from home. Not sure yet if I'll be working for department 1 or 2. I guess it doesn't really matter.

Got everyone fed and watered tonight and ready for the big storm. Everyone will be sheltering in their coop/haus except for the ducks because that's really not feasible. I will be keeping them in their run, though.

I hope we keep power - keeping those chicks warm is going to be a pain. I'd rather telework for both departments at once than keep 21 chicks warm.

I gave Naomi a bath and tried again with no luck. She is in a lot of pain as son as I touch her. She won't let me feed her but I left her with a little scrambled eggs with olive oil mixed in with a tums and a little feed pellets. All I can do is try again tomorrow. But it's not looking good. Need a chicken miracle.

Egg bound? Can you put a hot water bottle in there with her or a heated pad? If it were mine I'd get some steroids or non steroidal anti inflammatory into her and then go in with gloves and a second person to hold.

Bama, hope you sent some hatching eggs with my hatching seeds.

x 2 CC I agree with Arielle. I have paid for and had birds shipped to me and picked up birds I waited 6 months for. But all the timing is set by the breeder not the customer! You did your part he made the changes and did not fill in all the blanks and his friend is not a party to your transaction. You should keep the money and maybe if you feel like it offer to ship them or not!

I am really appreciating everyone's input. Part of me was thinking about refunding, be over the headache and learn a lesson.

But then again, I think right is right. I'm a little old to be learning lessons I already knew.

I think I'll go with vehve's advice, explain in an e-mail about my expenses and efforts, ask what he thought he owes me with the idea that I owe him little in return. If his offer is reasonable, I'll accept it, if not - guess what.

I knew from the first time I spoke to him on the phone that he was an *** ****.

He told me of his plans to show the cockerel at the first available show. I'm not aware of any show that has a class for Penedesencas but I know they can be shown as an other or something.
So he's one of those guys that buys a bird, shows it and takes credit for someone else's years of breeding.

I'm steamed again.

CC I "sneak" onto the site and read up real quick while at work. Ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :hide
The funny thing is on the weekends I am usually too busy to check up on the thread and am behind pages of comments.

I barely have time to eat lunch and check my personal email.

I was hoping for some goodies when u had the pharmacy job too.
Lol
I sent u some collard greens, turnip greens, and mustard greens. Mustards are our favorite. Be sure to harvest the turnip roots. They are awesome raw (radish like) but better cooked in with the greens. Everything I sent will tolerate "cool" weather.
Enjoy!

...
LOL why am I not surprised CC. You are one person I know that has lived life to the fullest. ANd I mean that sincerely.
Livin' for the moment. If not, you're not livin'.

I got buried in a tree well in Aspen once.
Some women from the US ski team saw me go off the jump and land inverted. I got myself out but was grateful they checked on me.

I like the comment, "He's screaming, so he's breathing".

I planned on heliskiing a few times but bailed at the last minute so I'm not as crazy as y'all think.

my son and I walked a ridge in Deer Valley, UT to go off a cliff. Not this one but similar. Alta is tougher.

The nice thing about Deer Valley is that it is skiers only. The bad thing is that it's for rich people. We drove the back road there from Sundance and it was so cold that while we were in the parking lot a guy gave us his day's lift tickets. Bonus, free skiing at Deer Valley, no matter how cold it was.
Screw those snow boarders. My son has boarded but I haven't had enough fun on skis yet to try it. Not to mention the 5th lumbar that's in 2 pieces.
