So I get the bathroom steamy, get a warm damp cloth, grab the egg quickly and toss the damp cloth in the bator and shut it, bring egg in another warm damp cloth and pick the shell off it if I can right?
I don’t want to mess up! I just made a cup of coffee and await your reply while I get the bathroom steamy.
That is what I do. I also run the sink at a warm (body temp) trickle so that my hands aren't dry (I continually run them under the water to get rid of the shell and keep the fingers damp). Pick the shell off it (it is easier than you think), leaving the membrane intact, if possible. Then when you have most/all of the shell off, tear gently at the top near the chick head, exposing it. If it isn't bloody, keep tearing until you know the chick can get out of it then wrap lightly in the damp towel and place in incubator. If it's bloody, leave it be, stop touching it, wrap it in the damp cloth gently and place back in incubator.
