The Old Folks Home

Oz, Not sure I would show that picture to any of my kids.

Guess i have gotten mellow in my old age, but the woman needs more meat on her plus a smile and The guy is packing too much weight and can he see what he is packing....

I would post a pix that would be what I would show my kids, but Wisher would kick my butt....

But then, maybe I missed the point of the picture??????

I am not sure if you get it either so forgive me if i am explaining the obvious

now daughter, if you dont study, the only way you are going to survive is by finding an old rich fat guy

son, if you study and become successful, even when you are old and fat, you will still attract hot young women.

Between the 2 of us and some others that sneak in , we should keep the people happy and Wisher busy.

On the picture, my kids are in Cali so the son knows. (I retired from Cali). So he knows most the 9's and 10's are fake and the real women are the 4 to 7s. He also knows a hot woman is too much upkeep and EXPENSIVE. he settled (wrong word really) for one that shares his love of cooking, outdoors and can have makeup free days. She can dress to kill if needed but is sure of her outer and inner beauty. He is one of the lucky ones. 14 years so far and counting.

Both daughters knows that the game in Cali is to marry money and keep trading in Husbands or they trade you in or you make something of yourself. They both just want honest men, who work, enjoy life and can deal with me.... Plus they made their own money, Studing was part I never had to teach them. Life in Cali taught them that... Now do they make mistakes...yes, they should have let me kill some of their old boyfriends and now wish I did. laughs But both are happy and their men have dad approval.. I think I scare the heck out of them.....

On a funny picture side I understand, having kids side made me sad in a way....
Gosh, getting old makes you see things different that when younger.

Oh lord 50's Dad is in me.

Having oldtimers, you will see me go from one end to the other in seconds.
being old means you flow with it or not...

as old Nat use to sing "Rambling Rose, you ramble on..."

I am so stoked because I should be receiving my new camera lens this Wednesday!!!
wee.gif
I've had my eye on a wider angle lens for quite a while but I have been waiting to get it for the right time. Well today was the right time to oder. Tax return in the bank? Check Lens still on sale? Check Trip coming up to Zion and Brice with SCG? Check Enough time to practice with the lens before the trip? Check Everything lined up nicely! Can't wait to see how much more I can get into my landscape shots now.

That's exciting! You do know... NO PICTURE OF ME ARE ALLOWED RIGHT?

Oh, dear...you guys better watch it or the neighbors are going to call the cops! Keep it down in here.

At least until I barricade their doors and cut the phone lines....

Well now that we have a few more silly folks in here, we may as well break out the snacks. I'm having smoked oysters, pickled herring, goat cheese, capers, fresh basil, pickled beets, fresh black cherry tomatoes, chives, roasted garlic and anything else that would make good Bruschetta. Grana padano...grilled squash...roasted red peppers...sun dried tomates and Moroccan olive tapenade...all on a crusty rosemary olive oil bread...

OK, I'm hungry. I have to go out to the farm, anyway...

Oh my goodness, I come in here to catch up, and end up with reading this! I'm heading for the kitchen, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to fine any of that in there.

Thanks Renee. Just getting ready to go shopping and this sounds so good. I hope I don't buy to much not on the list!

What a suckie day, grey drizzly day, cold and very unSpring like.
The good point, Ok, not so good but got alot done, soaked, coldish but more off the list. The Missus is even letting me back inside. Shorty will be happy about that. he does not share the barn well....

The weather was definitely yucky x 2 today. Maybe that's the good part about being me; most of the time, it's me that tracks the mud in. I wouldn't even consider not letting myself back in the house - even if I do smell vaguely of wet horse. I had to put one of the horses in a stall this morning, poor critter was soaked to the skin and shivering, even with a blanket on.

Sure feels good to curl up here on the couch with a warm computer.

I did a slow cooked Indonesian Beef Rendang made with beef shank last night while waiting for that mystery egg from Australia to hatch. I can throw that into the pot luck
I love Indo food! I go the light route, not eating beef or pork, but will sell my left kidney if someone can produce the right recipe for Soto Ayam like this place here in town used to make...MAN, that was good. I swear it could cure you if you were ill. It was my go-to medicine when I was sick for years. I've thought about tracking down the former owner and stalking him for his recipe.

I'm a sucker for food that one can slap together in no time. I keep a fridge full of components like that, because if you have bread or crackers, then you can make an amazing assortment of toppings in seconds flat and entertain folks who drop in. I've also been known to make a meal out of various frozen veggies, though, because I think quick on my feet! Toss a bunch of frozen string beans, olive oil or butter, garlic, and a tad of dill & salt in a hot skillet...plate, top with crumbled chevre. Toss some rainbow chard in the same pan, garlic, fresh basil, almonds, then plate it. Top with a bit of parm or grana padano. Yum.
Quote: I tracked in a truckload of snow tonight. My coveralls were caked in it and my hair was dripping from all the brushing against the netting, which was caved in from the weight of it all...I'm ready for spring.
