The Old Folks Home

Oh Bunnylady, I do know about the sudden change of food with any animals. A hard lesson learn.... Slowly mix new with old and work it from there. Always made sure I have a bale or two of the old stuff when switching food or supplier....
Funny how a different source of food can cause troubles as well...
Tick, you misunderstood me. The horse had been on Coastal all along, and had been colicking on it. It was when we switched him to Timothy that he stopped. The Vet suggested the change; some horses have problems when on Coastal hay. They can eat Bermuda in the pasture with no problems, but for some reason they have problems with it in hay form. Go figure.

Possibly the oddest colic I ever heard of was a story posted on a miniature horse forum. A mare developed an impaction colic while being pastured 24/7. When it became clear that she was slipping away, the owner had the mare euthanized. The Vet did a necropsy because he was curious about why the animal had gone down so fast. He discovered that about 8 feet of her intestines were packed solid with green grass; no other abnormalities were found. The only thing they could figure had to do with the fact that it had been a very rainy spell. They guessed that because the grass the mare was eating was wet with rain, she hadn't felt thirsty enough to go get a drink, and hadn't been getting enough water to keep her system going as a result.

OMG I just unpacked my beehive, it's been sitting in the basement in 2 large boxes for about 3 weeks. I figured it couldn't be that hard to assemble.

After unpacking, I have about 8 Lincoln-Log-Purgatory-Style stacks of wood to put together.

This kind of thing really puts me in a mood of despair.

There are also no assembly directions. I'm on my own trying to figure out which slot each Lincoln Log fits into.

Man, I wish you were near me... I love that sort of thing!! Something in my head gets really calm and I get really into a zone...you ought to see me when I buy too much to fit into my car at Costco! It's like Heaven!

Stomach bug. Breeding farm is 11 miles away from my home. Farm owner and family will be away tonight. I officially hate farming right this moment. I lost 70 chicks because of a misstep last night (right into my upper limit thermostat control) and a 12 degree heat spike for 12+ hours. At hatch day. I might have 4 or 5 survivors, but they'll be dain bramaged.

Did I mention I hate farming right now? I'd drink, but it might revisit me.

Oh, man, I love puzzles. My younger brother used to get me to untangle his kite strings. I'd be happy as a clam with that pile of wood!
Yes!! Untangling things!! Nothing as fascinating as knot theory.

I love logic puzzles, too, and tntanglement.gopherwoodstudios.com. And sudoku. yep.

well, now that I have three Easter Hatch chicks out of their shells, I believe I can open a bottle of wine.

Rationale: I didn't do anything but set eggs, establish LockDown, and three hatchlings are alive. There are 20 more eggs, but since I didn't do anything, I can continue to do nothing. You know, in case I don't manage to check the 'bator again tonight. (That's probably not gonna happen, but one never knows.)
