The Old Folks Home

She was our roo's favorite when he first got sexually active. Problem was, he wasn't very good at it. And she wasn't very willing. He's never broken her skin though, and she's looked like that for something like 4 months. The roo is much better at it now, and much more gentle, so I haven't seen a need for a saddle. And he hasn't been focusing his advances on her either, but she has just stayed bald and feather free on her back. That's why I hope she molts after raising these little ones. It doesn't seem to bother her, she slept outside in -20C weather just fine. She just isn't very photogenic...

If I were to make a saddle though, I saw a great idea somewhere. Take one of those beanie caps (the tight fitting ones), cut holes for the head and wings, and presto, you've got yourself some chicken couture.

The beanie cap would be cute.

I am trying to get woke up enough to get ready for my NPIP agent to get here at 9. lol Not sleeping well with my dog barking at every car going down the highway.
My NPIP Agent is trying to help me get a permit to ship some turkey eggs to SD. Not sure if I can do it or not. I think most of the test's that SD want's done are one's that I will have to pay extra for so I am not willing to pay out a whole lot when I will only be shipping a few eggs one time. But I guess I will know soon enough.

@chickadoodles Could open up new business if that's what you want, I see many breeders websites say NPIP certified.
I am already NPIP and AI/PT tested and clean. But some states want even more testing this paper from SD has 11 other test's listed. And I know my old NPIP agent told me in order to get some of those tests it is very expensive for small back yard farmers.

Morning everyone
@dsgard - thank you

No cure for me (yet

) but the new chemo drugs are doing a good job of keeping the CML at bay. They are really making new strides every day.

The sun is shining and it just might be warm (ish) today!!!!

Have a great day today and remember

chickisoup I will keep :fl for a cure for you. My dad lived with his CLL for over ten years before he had to get treatment. He went through one bout of chemo, was in "remission" for a year and had started another bout of chemo when it started snowballing. When he was diagnosed they were very clear that there was no cure for his type of leukemia. Even bone marrow transplants would only keep it at bay for a few years. He opted to not go that route for exactly that reason. I really hope your type if there is no cure, at least is not as pernicious as his was. I hope you get to keep your outstanding oncologist or can find someone just as good in your new area. :hugs

. Nope, no cure yet for me (CML) and the bone marrow transplant is not recommended (rarely works for folks over 30 and it has horrible risks) BUT the new drugs that have been developed/released in just the past 5 yrs makes living with it much more "livable". As for keeping my Onc, YOU BETCHA!!! It is now over a 2 hour drive (southish) one way and we are hoping to actually find a place that is closer to him
