So Alaskan, what was the temperature today? It was real nice here in Ne. It was a little cool but not bad. Usually on Easter it's cold or rainy or both but today was an unusual day. I didn't do family celebration, I stayed home and helped work on my chicken coop. Making it real nice for my girls and all my chicks. I have 9 chicks. 5 12 weeks old and 4 almost 5 weeks old. I sold 5. I hope you had a Happy Easter even with the snow.

well... I am a week behind... so today was Palm Sunday for me (I am Eastern Orthodox, and we calculate Easter the same as the rest of y'all, but add in that it has to be after the Jewish Passover, and that means that most years we are a little different), and

two years back we had about 5 feet of snow pack around the church... this year we had NOTHING... seriously, no snow or mud.


I am sure the snow that is falling now will disappear soon. The ground has thawed enough that even though it is hard in the mornings..... it warms up by noon and gets some squish to it.

I actually think that the grass might start growing soon

I can't imagine the kids doing an easter hunt in grass!

oh, anybody try those cute deviled eggs that look like chicks for Easter?

I am thinking of doing that for my Easter (so next week end)... Spouse wants me to make them with bacon top hats... so like five or so circles cut out of the bacon, all stacked, with a bacon square on the bottom... so that it looks like a top hat... on top of the deviled egg that looks like a chick

cook the bacon till its done but not completely crisp..... chop it up fine then make a mold for the hat...stuff the bacon in the mold and pop it in the refrigerator the fat in the bacon will act as a glue...

Maybe?

or cut the bacon into strips lengthwise.... then roll it around a tooth pick then put down the round brim and skewer that.... then put the bacon hat skewers on a cookie sheet and bake em... Making those rounds will be tricky... Unless you have a large diameter leather punch or something like that.

It would be easier to make em out of Gelatin... You can make molds out of corn starch

I was thinking of something even easier... like just using a marshmallow... but then who wants a marshmallow on top of a deviled egg?

I was thinking if you just barely cook the bacon... so cooked but still floppy, I could use a metal biscuit cutter to cut circles.

That sounds soo goood!

We planned on making them, our oldest messaged the wife's sister who was asking what we were bringing, she said she was making deviled eggs, daughter says how about you make them like cool little chickies? She says 'umm how about I just make them the regular way' she is so uncool. We had also planned on making those cool Jello egg things Amberjem made. Ohh well maybe next year......

I tried Googling chick shaped deviled eggs with bacon top hats, bacon top hats, bacon made into a hat, you never know someone might have already done it. I got a lot of pics and a breakdown of the woman's anatomy pic (I am NOT! posting that pic even though it is apparently PG), every time in safe search(we have kids!)!

Also this one that looks really yummy, called eggs Vivian; I love bacon. Ever put melted bacon grease and parmesan cheese on popcorn? mmm so good!

Edited to add; that's puff pastry on the bottom, and Hollandaise sauce on the asparagus. Always good to find another way to serve eggs when you are swamped by them Lol!
