I have not ever tried bacon fat on popcorn... but i bet that is delish!

Not a lent thing per-se...... Orthodox Christians are ....uh....... uhm.... freaky odd..... but Orthodox Christians are kinda not known about.... weird, but anyway, here is a detailed explanation:

http://orthodoxwiki.org/Introduction_to_Orthodox_Christianity

And nope, we don't "give something up for Lent" like lots of christian religions, we have a traditional understanding of fasting, which means that during the time of Lent you are supposed to (as much as you are able, with understanding given to illness, or for kids, pregnant moms, very much NOT legalistic... you are supposed to discuss it with your spiritual father) but no meat, no fish, no milk or any kind of dairy, no eggs, no wine, and no oil for the entire Lentan period.

however, on weekends you may always have wine and oil... and then on a couple of feast days (Palm Sunday and when Archangel Gabriel comes to the Virgin Mary on March 25th) you get wine, oil, and fish.

Because of that, Easter (which we usually refer to as Pascha, as in right after the Jewish Passover, from the Hebrew word Pesach), is often a giant meat and bacon fest

I got curious about it all and dug on the internet.... Orthodox is basically European and the OLDEST form of Christianity.... Very interesting indeed.

I don't follow a religion but I have read lots of religious history...

So No
Meat
Dairy
eggs
oil
alcahol

That leaves Rice Beans and veggies Unleavened bread Water... Tea? coffee?

Here is a recipe for Banana Bread

http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/bread/sweet-bread/no-eggs-no-milk-no-problem-banana.html

It asks for oil in the recipe but you could substitute either avocado or applesauce....

Avocado would be substitution but its one for one it can be substituted in both savory and sweet applications. It does change the taste a little bit but no one would be able to identify it. IN some cases you might have to add a little liquid to achieve the same consistency.

http://www.avocadocentral.com/avocado-recipes/baking-with-avocados

Same goes for applesauce.... but its probably not going to need extra water or liquid.

It's getting warmer, the sun has finally shown itself today. We decided to open up the end of the run, it was getting a bit hot in there.

I can't wait for the sun to warm up the ground enough for things to start growing again. Everything is a bit gloomy and bland so far. It will be interesting to see how the plum tree does too.

Hilma was resting on her side today, and we could see the baby bunnies kick in there. She got up when I took out the camera though.

The baby bunnies should be arriving at the end of the week.

Nice set up. Good luck with the babies!

Bama, staying super busy helps I think. And actually truly wanting to quit, hope I decide to someday. The only people I know that succeed go cold turkey.
