The Old Folks Home

Reading the local newspaper, got to the 'Dear Annie' a writer brought up
the IRS phone scam. They say "IRS does not call, they use certified mail, Govt. agencies have a 800 number, if you receive a call report it to
[email protected]. Also notify your local police."
Maybe if more people report it (we didn't, just hung up) it might be less likely for others to fall victim.

You are important to me.. so keep in touch. But, I also totally understand needing some down time.

I finally got my car back!!!!!!!

After all of this time I am skeptical. Does it work? Is it actually yours? Are there mysteriously and extra 10,000 miles on the speedometer?

Just wondering.

Dog got the Gambel Quail hen that set up nesting in the backyard rosebushes. Called Fish & Game to see if I'd be a candidate for jail or a citation if I decided to incubate the 15 eggs rather than let them become a critter food source. They gave me their blessing and also the number of a local Wildlife Rescue for when after they hatch. Once again the Brinsea is in action.....

SUPER much fun!

It worked on the way home, but smelled like clutch when I went back down into the garage. So not sure.

Heading off soon to sewing class (if I don't pass out in my computer chair, first) soon so I'll get another test drive out of it.

And I'm pretty sure it's mine - there was chicken poop, shavings and a feather on the floor of the drivers side. Not to mention the vanity plate matched...

Well, I blame the quail, too. It wasn't the best place to set up shop. The nest was backed up against a stucco wall in between two rose bushes. Dog just stood in front of it leaving the quail no place to go but into the dog once flushed. And this is a dog (greyhound) that can catch low flying pigeons. Okay. I'll take a little blame, too, because if I had finished weeding the backyard the nest would be a moot point as there would be no dried up leftover-from-last-year grasses to make a nest out of.

I'm slowly regaining my back bedroom back after many, many months of incubation and brooding. At last the outside chickens outnumber the inside ones! And the inside ones are about to mosey out to the grow-out pen in the garage...we have company coming in May, so it's imperative that the guest room is bird-free. This is fine as I learned that house chicks can (and do) outstay their welcome: They got out the other day and enjoyed feasting on the grow-light pepper seedlings during their walkabout. Very small pepper crop this year as the plants are denuded of leaves.

Because the quailettes (quaillings?) will not be long-term residents, I've set up the Brinsea on the wet bar counter in another room.
