I completely feel your pain SCG when it comes to neighbors not respecting your property. Yesterday I came home to an obvious intruder into the chicken pen. There were egg splatters on the ground and a child sized glove. I went into the coop and checked out the broody and the other broody in the small coop. Both were still there but the broody in the big coop was down three turkey eggs. The neighborhood children broke them while they were having fun with the chicken eggs. I was LIVID yesterday and they are very lucky I am not exactly sure which ones they are. We are trying to figure out a way to "light up" the gates to the pen to teach them a lesson. When I was a child, I was taught not to ever mess with other people's property. I don't know what's wrong with these kids and the lack of parenting they are getting.

I hope you find a way to teach them a good lesson.

I might think about a huge guard dog to scare the mess out of them!

I know it is out of control every where. I think most of it the law has people scared to death to discipline their children for fear of losing them.
Here we have one neighbor that has kids. Last year they were throwing glass at my birds and I kept finding pieces of glass bottles in my pens. I hung some cloth screen around the pens so that anything thrown would hit the cloth then the ground.
Now we have parents on the news beating their children for the riots and total loss of respect even for the law!
It is all so sad!

Yes they are turklets. lol How are your new babies doing?

They are doing very well and growing and eating a lot!!!

The 2 light colored chicks are feathering out white so far, is that normal? The darker chick is feathering out much different, browns and reds.

I went down to the mailbox just a little bit ago and there's tread marks and upturned dirt all over the place. The mailbox is listing a bit more to the side than usual, but not too bad.

Dsgard, maybe you can get DNA from the glove. You could put it atop a long pole, with a sign that says ' IS THIS YOUR GLOVE?' I dunno, when we were kids we didn't do things like that.

My mother used to tell me if I walked on a neighbors lawn they would call the police. Believe me, to this day I don't walk on anyone's lawn unless I am invited .. Of course my mom made me so fearful of the police, I never would have gone to them for help.

I guess that is what ticks me off when kids tramp all over my lawn and drivers back up over my lawn - the street is a dead end and the sign says so but, no one believes it. Many times a day some goof nuts is turning around on my lawn. One guy made such a mess turning the wheels one way than another that I had the chance to walk up to his window. I told him in no uncertain terms "Get the

off my lawn NOW!!

Diva I won't have to get a DNA test the little buggers showed up again tonight and we caught them this time. We are going to electrify the fence so if they show up again they get shocked. I told them to never come back. If I see them on my property again I will make sure their parents understand the police will be involved next time. I know the kids are too young to understand what they are doing but maybe CPS can explain to the parents what it means to supervise small children.

geez, what are the kids doing on your property without your persmission?? Unfortunately you will have to be thoughtful about what the punishment will be again. . . YOU could get into big trouble. Might be worth a few phone calls to possible families involved. Perhaps a game cam????

Too bad broody turkey didn't take a bite out of them. I've hear so much of this kinda stuff in my 5 years on BYC, it's getting to be common place.

I recall one family found total strangers in their yard using their barbeque grill and their tables and chairs . I had strangers open my gate so their dog could have a good run,& POOP in MY backyard.

The world is a very scary place even without terrorism.
