The Old Folks Home

I swear I'm the clumsiest person ever born.

I hurt so bad, but the Arnica is helping. If I can get my knee to bend enough, I'm taking off later and heading the health food store. I can't believe I let my last tube get this low. Benn trying figure out if I may have a stashed tube, but where. I'm always losing things I put somewhere safe! Didn't realize how back my back hurts till I started typing this and most was copy and paste! This getting old stuff really doesn't make getting hurt any easier. Someone point me towards that retirement staff.
Good heavens, Honey!! If I could come and help out, I would. Sheesh!! I have done similar things because of what my hubby dubbed the "trick ankle." I'm praying for an easy recovery and a distinct lack of challenges for your immediate future. Let's all send wolftracks some boredom!!!

Problem is I've just about finished my 25 year stint. Who takes over next?

Isn't that why people have kids?

I posted this on the incubator thread but would like your opinions. Today is day 22/23, 1 of 6 hatched yesterday a.m. without issue. The remaining 5 have no pips, movement seems to have stopped, and the chirping I could hear before has stopped. My question is how long do I wait till I give up on them. Or is there a good way to help...how and when?
Thanks

I know you're further along now, but I hold the egg up to my ear and tap on it with my fingernail. They will almost always chirp back. You can hear that and the movement.

A little bit of blood when removing them from the membrane is normal. I leave them in the incubator longer, most of the time they'll recover.

The missus and I have cooked and clean both for over 40 - 50 years, not together, different families etc. We find that paper plates clean real easy if the meal is not too wet.I am still trying to get one of the animals to learn to do dishes. They all can clean a plate or pan but the Missus refuses to reuse them that way. Kids and dishes, works good til they figure out it's work without pay. Yes, I was one of those that did not pay an allowance. They earned like I did for extras.... Outside the house......

Well, as I say before, when my time is up, it is up. I guess I am cursed with living in this world for a long time. Got in to it with my chain saw yesterday. Blow the chain and cut my left hand some what. The missus when she got home wanted to take me to ER for stiches but, being me, I said no. Learned in the service and childhood how to take care of my own wounds. Lucky for me, it was not deep but bloody. 3 fingers of of cut skin, and some meat on the ring finger. Did all the normal stuff and feel no real pain today. The bummer is all the stuff I need to be doing, is not getting done. Promised the Missus I would take a couple of days off everything but the normal animal chores. (plus no cooking or dishes, yay) I guess I was lucky but then, I have always been lucky. Survived the wild childhood, the teenager years, Being shot and fragged, fights, dumb chances gone wrong etc.... My brothers are amazed I am still around, but then like said. I am cursed..... and paying the price for all that fun I had....

as the old saying goes....

"if I know I was going to live this long, I would have taken care of my body better"

oh yea, welcome to the new people, I hope we get some new older blood here. The kiddies are starting to outnumber us old folks....

On the chicken front. when I heal enough, I have to build another smaller coop and seperate the older girls so I can tell who is laying and who is ready for supper. That is excpet for the lone chicken from our first group. She gets to go out in her own way, when ever that happens. All my youngsters are now laying. I have to figure out if I am going to split some up for another flock or leave Sugar with 13 hot little ladies.

mmm, so much to do and now.... healing. sheesh.....

oh, one the home front or maybe alliance front. The missus is giving me a 20% raise.

Yay!!!!!

The bummer is after I figured out how much money that was I can up with "0"

You see a 20% raise on nothing, is nothing......

I am really thinking of going on STRIKE !!!!!!

I did it once and she backed down and I will do it again, maybe.
She did not like me walking the front and side property by the street with a sign saying.... "unfair work practices" and "beatings are not pay" ...

Boy, the people in cars and neighbors had a good laugh and some joined me..
You see old people have nothing but time on their hands and anything fun is better than no fun....

Just got to figure out how and what for this time....

we had a good laugh about a week later after she got over her madness that I would do something like that... But I got my point accross.. snickers

enough from me, see a bored tick is a dangerous tick.....

everyone enjoy the day....

Wolf! Stop that! You hear me now? Can ya hear me now? No more falling. It made me hurt just reading that. Ouch! I am so scared that I am going to fall outside sometime, and no one will hear me calling for help. My throat isn't all that great since my spine surgery in my neck. I guess I can always carry my phone of my, then if I fall, I can call my DH in the house. :D
Sure hope you do well recovering. Fast recovery, ya hear?

Well thank you Karma that your BIL is okay, surely he must have been pretty close to the whole thing. Yes, but an act of cowardice, not terrorism. Scary, tho, always thought largely attended public events would become targets sooner or later. And how in the world could they ever have policed that enough to prevent it, such a wide open event...Glad you vented, we all have to get it out once in a while.

Two of the three eggs in Punkin's dog bed nest have hatched. The third is pipped and the shell is cracked all over, which I didn't expect. But she has been helping the chicks out of their shells.

This is fascinating to watch, but scarier than an incubator hatch! I don't know if she really knows what to do! She has picked up the chicks by their winglets! Then she tucks them back beneath her feathers.
