The Old Folks Home

Someone asked me to write a letter of recommendation for them today. Per my protocol I asked for their resume so I had my dates and duties correct.

I plan to return his resume when I am able with corrections.

You need someone to proof something? Give it to me.

Just think of all those wild chickens in the forest who raise up broods all on their own... Id do a test run with some eggs that really dont matter.

Thats what I did with my first batch I put in three Aruacana and four guinea eggs all at once. All Pullet eggs. I figured I might get one or two chicks to hatch.... Yep I knew the Guineas take a week longer...

but I had heard that rotating eggs is only important the first fourteen days... so what the heck.

On Day 18 I turned the turner off and upped the humidity... None of the Aruacana eggs hatched which was expected... But on Day 28 Pip and sproing came the Guineas.... Pip and sproing and pip and sproing... They each popped out once they got that egg shell chipped... I got three out of four. One Royal purple and two pearls....

Those guinea eggs had been jack booted all over their coop I had simply picked the cleanest ones figuring they were the newest layed.

We had 80-90 degree days that week and as usual in the desert very low humidity... Guinea eggs take more humidity because their dang egg shells are twice as thick as a chicken egg.. in order to crack em for cooking you have to use the back of a knife.

hope you get another inch deb! And cloudy weather after! (well... we can fantasize, right?)

right now the clouds are like ships riding on a serene sea.... Dark grey at the bottom leaving misty trails as they head for collision in the mountains....

The winds are blowing gently from the sea bringing seagulls and the smell of Iodine... Their gentle words to each other as they settle for the evening are so different than the raucous noise of the day.

Right now everything is blooming and the Rich smell of Star Jasmine is every where. It smells to me the same as Orange Blossom's... I miss my little five tree grove.

Maybe this rain will make the little frogs come back... I miss their peeping at night... or the occasional one that sticks itself to the window... so much noise from a fingernail sized lifeform.

yep I can fantasize pretty well.
