They do so much better with them... and they don't keep me up all night long, lol.I will never use anything other than a plate. They are awesome
That is a good approach. 2 large moving boxes from lowe's are under $3 for the pair.I use two big cardboard boxes attached together with a pass through cut on the bottom. Brooder light on one side, food and water on the other.
I've never had chicks as lively as the SandHill ones, except for the four that died of course. They run back and forth like roadrunners, flapping their little wings. And when they sleep they just sprawl out wherever they happen to stop, quite comical, and a little annoying, very loud. I'm about ready to shut their light of at night, sound like a bunch of giant rats, but it's cold in our house at night so I don't dare yet.
Thankfully most of the worst has moved south of us and even though it has drizzled most of the day we only got a 1/4". Supposed to get a lot more over the next 3 days. It has been incredibly wet this year.Poor ChickenCanoe is going to need a canoe to get out of dodge if it keeps raining.
As an explanation, you can get a premier plate that broods 20 to 30ish chicks. It is not that much more expensive than setting up a heating pad and does the same things, mimics a broody and etc.
Quote: Photos elude me with the new change in format but for you I will try again!! English pointer. I had to give up on the rotties for now as they have a reputation they don't deserve, and needed a "Kid friendly" dog. As in all the visiting kids will just start playing with the dog instead of mom and dad putting me thru 50 questions . . . .buying from woman who helped me train the rotties BTW so she knows me well enough. Needed an easy dog at this stage of my life. lol
Quote: ROFL-- didn't know bass were in the sunfish. . .. thought they were there own; perch-- LOVE to eat white perch; yellow perch is on my list to try this summer, and are unrelated to the white perch. Kids have been casting from the beach-- yes beach. Water at lake is DOWN maybe 10 feet and making it tough on the fish this year.
I always love your" wealth of useless information."
By a show of hands who all googled "lilliputian"? Or should I blame Alabama school system?![]()
