The Old Folks Home

YES, enter it for the Calendar contest - I heard it ends 7-31 so get moving on this. What a gorgeous group of roosters and they aren't killing each other.

WISHER THIS IS FOR YOU

This is for the 2016 BYC Calendar - ends 7-31-15 only TWO entries per person. WISHER you have to enter your 6 Roos, or else they will be missing out on the WINNER. I think there are 12 winners plus the calendar cover - so 13 winners in all.

PS the announcement and other entries are in the "Stories & Pictures" forum. I would enter your photo myself If I could, I feel that strongly that your picture MUST be in the contest. Please don't break an old woman's heart

Cynthia the pictures were shot up at Brighton ski resort. I even recognized some of the runs we skied on in the past winters. I was probably closer to the moose than he liked but not enough to disturb him completely from eating. When he gave a little snort, I figured I had overstayed my welcome and went away.
sssharon those jars of jam look wonderful.
Wisher your birds are gorgeous!
So glad Maddie had fun on the boat. I found out years ago if I go out in a boat the water has to be about a smooth as glass or I get seasick.

Drumstick Diva - This is for you! https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/992641/2016-byc-calendar-your-pictures-needed/640#post_15623377

SCG - These roosters are quite tolerant of each other. They tend to hang in groups and even if there is a fight, it is rarely serious. They will flare their hackles and stare at one another with heads run out in front and necks parallel to the ground. This contest can last several seconds up to minutes. Next, they will suddenly explode into flapping wings and flailing feet, sometimes straight up to several feet high, but neither touching the other. If that doesn't decide the winner, they take turns ducking under while the other jumps over. It usually ends with one pulling a few neck feathers out of the other.

As for harassing the hens................. I'm just glad I have lots of girls.

Ron - I'll try to get some pics of the pullets, but they spend their time in the tall grass and bushes in the field or wood line. I don't like the background if I snap them on the roost, and they are too skittish to behave if put in a photo box. But I'll try.

Ha..glad I suggested the calender...

And, I thought the idea of June was a great idea..from Peach, I went there and commented too..I accidentally left a comment to north because I saw the photo there first thinking it was Wisher. Sorry Debby. :)

Wisher, are those birds good layers?? Often. Can you get a photo of some eggs while you are getting more of the girls? That would be nice eye candy in my back yard flock if they lay well. Go broody often?
