The Old Folks Home

@chickadoodles

I am not impressed with your doctor. :(

When I had mine fixed, they put in a big mesh panel... It has held it in super well.. :)

Got to love it when your guts stay on the inside. ;)

Good luck! :fl

Me three.. prayers for you.

That is great looking honey!

It would go great with the English Muffins too.

I agree, those muffins with this honey.

SCG..do you keep all of your honey, or sell some of it? I hear that it's really going up in price. At least around here. I used to get it from my neighbor who's dad and mom had hives. Haven't heard from her this yr. Will have to ask. And how much they are selling it for. They also make the hand and lip balm. Love them both!

Ron, those look phenomenal. You always make such yummy breads.

I got my act together and got the supers off the hives today. The stronger hive (red) had some honey to extract, and as predicted, the very weak blue hive had not a drop to harvest. It's amazing how well the one hive did with almost no human interaction this year. I suspect the other hive would have done good, too, had they had a queen that was effective.

I got 1.4 gallons of honey from the good hive. Because it's later in the season, the honey is darker and richer than last years (I prefer the light colored honey, but this is very tasty, too).
I prefer dark maple syrup. Has more flavor. Most people prefer the light. Doesn't the dark honey have more health benefits than the light?

Bees.... But we have ground nesting bees... They are solitary and make tunnels into the dirt.. Lay a bunch of eggs, then die. I think there are a few different kinds of bees... But none that make hives, all of the kinds that we have die before winter leaving eggs that hatch in the spring.

Male mosquitos pollinate a bunch

And there are also some flies that look a bunch like bees... They also pollinate.
Mason bees?

Never had a hot toddie but get sore throats frequently (less than a month to have those suckers removed!) and the honey and lemon tea really help.
Add two fingers of corn whiskey, cures sore throats, with honey of coarse...

I had a double, scariest thing I've ever been through. Don't even know what they did to me cause I couldn't understand their language. Good now, guts in place... lol.

It sure is nice when the guts are in place! ;) i didn't like it before... Having to stick the sticky outy thing back in.... If it got too big, or started hurting... Couldn't keep the blasted thing inside of me.

Beer.. You had two hernias at once?

My friends Dad had a giant hernia.... All along the side, he got a giant piece of mesh, and managed to rip the mesh out...pop out again.

Crazy! My mesh has been awesome.
