The Old Folks Home

I should have said... My dad is a doctor, and used to do rounds in the hospital on all of the screw ups.

Man... It is not good knowing all of those stories while they are putting you out.

My dad never lets them put him under... He insists on staying awake so he can comment and critique.

Alaskan, your dad must have a high pain threshold - OUCH!! I wouldn't want to be awake - hearing them discuss medical things makes me squeamish.

Oh they can fix it so you dont feel a thing and can still be awake.... Look at brain surgery... always done while the patient is awake...

Saw my first brain surgery in black and white back in Roswell some TV documentary back in 1960 s

I love English muffins and honey and honey on English muffins sounds wonderful.

A while back I bought a large box (75 yards) of ultra heat n bond because I do a lot of applique work and prefer the glue over the paper way of doing applique. Wow, wish I had bought a smaller box only because the glue is so heavy that it shreds the thread when you are trying to sew it. I just ordered a box of the light heat n bond because I just can't keep using the ultra stuff. Now what the heck am I going to do with about 73 yards of the ultra stuff? Lesson learned. I got this project glued and slowly working on getting it sewn but it is frustrating because of the glue. I will get it done though.

@Alaskan No only one hernia but doc said other side was weak so repaired both. And I had to push it back in also, but it never hurt, only when I blew it out, and after the surgery. I don't know if I got the mesh, couldn't understand doctor.

I agree, those muffins with this honey.

SCG..do you keep all of your honey, or sell some of it? I hear that it's really going up in price. At least around here. I used to get it from my neighbor who's dad and mom had hives. Haven't heard from her this yr. Will have to ask. And how much they are selling it for. They also make the hand and lip balm. Love them both!

I don't have enough for selling, really. If my second hive had produced this year, I might have had some to sell. As it is, I ran out of honey about mid-March this year (I had given some honey away last year after harvesting). And by ran out I mean I had 1 jar left for an emergency - ie if my hives didn't produce this year. This morning the first thing I did was make a nice cup of hot tea and honey. Oh, I missed this.

I work in a hospital.
I had my wisdom teeth out with a local, but the doctors can't do my tonsils with a local (I asked). You'd better believe I'll be checking everything that they are trying to use on me or put in me up until I'm unconscious.

Thanks everyone. I am having a mesh panel put in to Alaskan it is a large tear. I was refered to this Dr. and I don't know him. My DH would prefer that I go to a sergon in T-town. But I told him that I felt like my Dr. would not refer me to a bad Dr. so I hope all goes well. But Alaskan I think I might take your advice and right do not remove anything on my stomach! I had hoped he could do a laser repair. But he said it he had to open me up. But I don't understand how it is still a outpatient surgery.

Chickadoodles, that IS something to ask your doctor about. Nowadays some hospitals discharge women hours after giving birth. Thankfully I wasn't one of them many years ago.

Definitely ask him what aftercare and restrictions you will have post surgery.

:lau maybe he was saying "I give you good price, sell one of your kidneys before I sew you up."

With my hernia he cut a slit above the hernia location, stuffed the mesh through the hole, opened it up at the hernia, then sewed me up.

Luckily my incision is tiny, maybe just over an inch... So I know he didn't snag a kidney while in there. ;) he must have used cute little laparoscopic tools. I picked a surgeon that only does hernia repair. Hernias, every day, all day... He meets patients on a few days a week, then sews up hernias on the other days.

I have no idea how a laser could keep your guts from falling out.... Mesh is good, I totally understand mesh.
