The Old Folks Home

My grand daughter recently referred to me as being 'taciturn'. There's a great story on how the Princess and I met involving a police officer, a speeding ticket and a court appearance. WE were destined to be together.

You consider yourself tacitun? Well, I know that I'm the opposite! Don't get me started on certain subjects...lol..children, grandchildren, and chickens being a few. And, if you I get going on how my DH and I met. Pretty awesome.

Well??

We got a huge egg from the ducks today... normal egg weighed 2.6 oz this one was 5.7 oz!

Double yolker and conjoined!

OUCH! And yum.

lol..SCG...I met my DH at a church dance. I thought what a nice guy right off the bat. Then, he told me that he had 7 kids. I just thought the mom had them after a divorce. Like me, with 4 children after two divorces. I found out that he had the kids! Mom had committed suicide. :( I remember telling my mother that I had met the nicest man. But..he had 7 kids, and there was no way I was going out with him again, we had already had one date when I told her this, and that's when the news came out that the had the kids. I told her, nice, but can't get serious with him because I couldn't imagine 11 kids together. Well, long story short of course...he really Was a good guy! No dating silly games at all. Sincere. Very kind. Well, that's all she wrote. Then we had one little guy together..so...12 kids. His, mine, and ours. Was it tough? Oh yeah! But today, those kids of his are so loving to me. They tell me that they are so thankful that I came along when I did. There were a lot of teens in that house at one time..whew! They are mine..that's all there is to it. What a blessing they are to me. When I married him, I got double the love ~ in the long run. They didn't know what to think of me at first, but they all tell me that they love me today..grown up and with children of their own. We now have 31 grandchildren, and one on the way. Lots of love!

Cynthia, they are yours just as my two little Chinese grand daughters are ours. Great story. Tough to get lonely in that house; although, my daughter once told me, "Dad, you can make yourself lonely while surrounded by people who love you."

Your daughter is very wise. Unfortunately, that if very true. A lot of folks out there looking for something/love, when it's right there in front of them, and not in their day dreams of having more in life..material things....

Chinese grandchildren? Adorable! I have some Hispanic grandchildren. Adorable also! :)

Doncha love those early duck eggs, they are HUGE and most are doubles, and so yummy! Never baked a better cake in my life, thing almost rose out of the oven door!

Frogs, frogs. Have so many here it's almost deafening at dusk and dawn. Tree frogs, stream frogs, they're everywhere! Up here there is an actual "Amphibian Club" they go around every late spring and try to identify all the species, and as we have a stream thru our property, they knock on our door every year letting us know they are lurking. Amazing with the winters here how these things survive.

The butterflies are starting here, they are everywhere. Maine is just a magical place in spring and summer. If we could only get rid of the black flies, they are BRUTAL right now after 2 years of almost none. Oh well, everybody's got to eat, and they'll be gone by the 4th of July. Do have tons of swallows, and they get pretty thick on a good fly day, swooping everywhere gobbling them up, and watch the chickens jump up and catch them as well. Beautiful thing, love the cat duckling pic, how in the world did you get her/him to do that? My cat is terrified of them, but he will snuggle between the 2 golden retrievers...
