The coon got three more chickens this afternoon in broad daylight. DH saw it and we found three bodies within two feet of each other in an open part of the yard. We got the metal roofing secured, and set two traps using the bodies of the five dead birds. Daisy Duck quacked at me some this evening, I think that is a good sign.

That is so sad!

I am sorry you lost 5 chickens today and I hope you catch the Coon(s) soon!

I ususally try deterents-- electric fencing and dogs. Has worked so far here.

I have to say I miss hiking with Dsqard. Our definition of early is much more similar.

I know right? Starting early means leaving the B&B by 7am.

I would have loved the hike you and your friend did yesterday. Been too many years since I went hiking in the woods of Maine. Playing in the woods and living near the coast were probably my favorite things about living in Maine besides the small town friendliness. Of course I was from there so that probably helped. I know my dad was thought of "from away" for about 5 years even though he was born in Maine, just didn't grow up in the that town.

Wisher I am so sorry to hear about the losses and the attacks. I am praying you have a pelt for a coon skin hat today.
