The Old Folks Home

I'm very nervous this morning! I could hardly sleep last night worrying about this NPIP testing this morning! Wish me luck please!

My only Silver Sebright, Alice, has gone broody inside the house in a brooder bin where she and two other hens have been laying their eggs every day. Two other hens come in, lay their eggs, then go back outside. Alice settled down two days ago and hasn't left. I took the eggs away (hers are never fertile because she's too fast for the large fowl roosters) and I didn't want the LF eggs to incubate.

Instead, I gathered four bantam EE (green) eggs and gave them to Alice. She inspected them carefully, then tucked them beneath her. She has gone broody before, but always hidden - and her eggs never hatched.... So this time, we'll see if she is a good mother in about three weeks.

Anyone ever raise dark Cornish?

Is this amount of nakedness normal? They're about 7 weeks old.

Don't get me wrong, I loooove me some naked freakazoid chickens. But this just seems... not right. I've never kept birds inside this long. I'm afraid to take these out to the coop for fear they'll get pecked and it will become a bloody nightmare.
